District 23, AFP, And Some Enemies of Transparent Government

The Grok faithful should already be familiar with the very contentious senate primary in District 23.  The establishment elite is circling the wagons and playing dirty to protect RTK tax cosponsor Senator Gannon against his challenger, Rep Emily Phillips.  Anyone not up to speed is encouraged to use the archive search for many recent Grok pieces.  Just use their names as the keywords.  What’s less known is the geography and the cast of characters involved in the rippling effect of a rising star seeking higher office.  Also less known is Americans for Prosperity’s need to do the right thing and stay out of one particular House race.  More on that in a moment, but let’s first note how AFP is tarnishing its reputation by endorsing enemies of 91A.

AFP is doing the right thing in supporting Emily Phillips in her senate race, but they’re doing the wrong thing in supporting Scott Wallace, who is in a primary with former Rep Melissa Litchfield for a seat shared by three towns.  Those towns are Fremont, Brentwood, and Danville, the latter being home to Scott Wallace.  My rudimentary understanding is that Litchfield has a “liberty rating” of A and Wallace has one of “A+,” which is the reason for AFP’s selection.  Remember that Litchfield was in office when covid tyranny was moving along, full tilt.

As an outsider to District 23, I learned about Rep. Litchfield when she received statewide attention for crying foul, rightfully so, when vax status was used in creating a two-tier senior prom situation.  Many articles are available, pay and free, in a search using “prom” and her name as keywords, so feel free to look into that as you wish.  I call attention to this as an example of her commitment to serving the public and her hands-on approach at the local level.  If she was just an ordinary member among her 399 peers in the House who just did the people’s work in Concord and clocked out like Fred Flintstone in the quarry, I would not have known about her.  She is a stark contrast to her House District 32 primary opponent, Scott Wallace.

First and foremost, Scott Wallace is an enemy of 91A, but no ordinary one.  Not only did he vote the wrong way in the final HB 1002 roll call, but he’s also the vice chair of House Judiciary and, therefore, just as bad as his senate counterpart and own senator, Gannon.  An OTP vote as a committee member makes a legislator an even worse enemy of 91A than just voting the wrong way in a roll call.  Scott Wallace is also lazy and a member of the establishment elite’s “good old boy network,” relying on his name recognition in Danville.  Melissa Litchfield is out there, hard at work, door-knocking to meet and greet voters, but you don’t have to take my word.  Ask the locals.

I’ve watched enough hours of the Senate in session to know the usual format of Queen Bee Donna Soucy and her ilk.  Jeb calls on that enemy camp member, and s/he says, “Thank you, Mr. President, I rise in opposition to the committee recommendation of (whatever it is),” followed by some diatribe filibuster.  While I don’t want to be associated with the enemy camp, I will offer my own variation of their template below:

“Thank you, dear readers, for reading this.  I rise in opposition to AFP’s recommendation to vote for RTK enemy Scott Wallace and ask you to join me in supporting Melissa Litchfield and urging AFP to withdraw its involvement in that race.”

Now, please share my message with the voters in those three towns.  Be a good first baseman and help Team Non-Establishment “retire” Scott Wallace.
