Maine Democrats and just about anyone else who thinks they can flip Maine couldn’t be happier that the Nazi tattoo guy is no longer an albatross around their endorsement necks. Understand, this is all they care about. Bernie, for example, is still not sorry he endorsed Platner. Pappas, the political climber, had to admit that rape is a blue line he can’t publicly cross. Bad language, racist remarks, accusations of abuse- those were all fine. Even language about women exponentially more degrading and insulting than what sparked the Pussy Hat March was fine.
No worries, he’s our guy. And now they are falling over each other like teenyboppers trying to get a look at the Beatles. No money and almost no one knows who he is outside State Capitol Politics and the State Senate District he held for years, but he’s … not been credibly accused of rape.
The New York Times likes him so much they poured some words made of syrup onto their pages to tell a story, not so different from that of Platner.

Jackson may have more credibility here than Platner. His Oyster Business was invented to make him look like something other than a silver-spoon kid being framed as blue-collar. Troy is alleged to have been a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
The Guardian writes, “They have nominated lumberjack Troy Jackson this weekend as their candidate.”
Well, he’s related to them, at least. Lumberjacks.
Jackson is a fifth-generation logger from north Maine, specifically Allagash, which is the largest town in Maine by land area. However, only a little over 200 people reside in the municipality nicknamed “Moosetown.”
Logger Jackson has been a politician for the past 26 years, and he gets his logging cred “during a 1998 logging blockade along the Canada–United States border, protesting the entry of Canadian temporary workers who were being hired over Maine loggers by blocking them from crossing the border.”
He graduated from high school in 1986, went to college, where he earned a business degree (no logging), and his logging credentials are getting sketchy.
In 1998, Jackson helped lead a one-week blockade along the Maine–Canada border, with loggers from Maine physically blocking Canadian loggers from crossing the border at three border checkpoints.[1] Fourteen American loggers joined him in the blockade.

Industry representatives said the border blockade was a threat to the economic stability of Maine’s forest products sector because it disrupted supply chains to regional mills. Trade groups said the border blockade caused anti-Canadian sentiment and could damage longstanding bilateral trade partnerships. Opponents of the blockade said that using bonded non-immigrant temporary foreign workers under the U.S. federal H-2A visa program was legal and also necessary because there were not enough local workers to meet the Maine wood industry’s labor needs. Industry advocates also accused protest organizers of scapegoating Canadian laborers for macroeconomic shifts and poor timber market conditions.
I can’t find any actual logging work history, but let’s assume that’s true and doesn’t matter because he’s a politician. Been one for most of his life. And that history is full of flip-flops.

In 2024, he received the Gender Justice Champion award from Maine Women’s Lobby and the Legislative Champion Award from Maine Service Employees Association SEIU Local 1989, according to his LegiStorm profile.
Jackson appears to have consistently drifted hard left, earning him all the right endorsements despite throwing things at women when he’s mad.
Heck, Kamala’s Hubby Doug hits women, and Democrats worked hard to ignore that, so who knows what else might surface about Jackson that Democrats will be required to ignore.
But here’s the big money question. If Troy is an otherwise suitably left-wing enough Democrat these days, if he was a lumberjack, that means he killed trees for a living. Lots of them. Generationally. How’s the environmental lobby gonna feel about that?
Will he have to disavow it, and if he did, what would the Times or the Guardian call him when polishing his political genitals on their pages for low-information voters?
