MACDONALD: Maine’s Highest Court Rains on Rank Choice Voting Parade

Maine missed the message, but that’s okay; it probably can’t get there from here. Americans, including some who live in blue states, are rejecting rank choice voting. I know, they call it ranked, but I call it rank, because it stinks. I know that because lots of Democrats want it, which means it is bad for Democracy, and bad for America. I know that because everywhere Democrats succeed in convincing low-information voters and idiot Republicans, it’ll be alright, Democrats establish one-party majorities, control, and the place, wherever it is, goes to shit.

Maine is already in the shitter, so maybe they figure, what’s the point? I don’t know, Poland? It was a Soviet puppet state for generations, and now it’s the most pro-American freedom/liberty part of Europe. Hungary? Trying to be free, but the EU and globalists are trying to keep it under their skirts.

As for Rank Choice voting, in the last “really big” election,

All told, eight states had ballot initiatives on the issue. In four of them — Nevada, Colorado, Oregon and Idaho — voters were directly asked to pass ranked-choice voting. In two others — Arizona and Montana — voters faced ballot measures that would have likely led to this scheme.

In all of those six, voters said no, most of them by overwhelming margins.

And in Missouri, voters banned the state from ever passing ranked-choice voting.

Maine is trying to escalate the fraud to state-level races, but Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court sent the legislature a note saying, ” Nice bill you passed there, but it’s unconstitutional.

“Because of the Maine Constitution’s language, there are strong and convincing reasons that LD 1666 is unconstitutional, and we conclude that the presumption of constitutionality has been overcome,” the justices stated in a unanimous opinion.

Supporters are grumpy while opponents are ecstatic, at least until the Constitutional Amendment comes along next session. Democrats won’t give up. The Maine League of Women Voters insists they know a lot more about what is constitutional than the Supreme Judicial Court. And I’m not saying they don’t, but LWV doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what’s Constitutional. They exist to get progressives in office. Women, women with penises, Democrat men who sexually assault women. Democrat transwomen who assault women. And ranked-choice voting has a strange degree of success in doing just that. Electing Democrats (some of whom are likely committing sexual assault because Dems do exactly the opposite of what they advertise.

Eric Swalwell, anyone. The entire California Democrat establishment (who likely knew or suspected and said nothing for over a dozen years. The entire Democrat Caucus in Congress, the media, they all know what’s going on, and as long as it doesn’t affect their connection to power, they look the other way when Democrat women get raped.

Hillary Clinton set up an entire operation in the West Wing to silence anyone who dared accuse co-President Bill of it.

Here’s what the FGA.org says.

Pushed almost exclusively by the Left as an alternative to America’s traditional “one person, one vote” system, ranked-choice voting is actually an alternative voting scam that leads to thousands of trashed ballots, widespread errors, delayed election results, and diminished voter confidence.

That’s why 10 states have banned ranked-choice voting in just the last two years—Florida, Tennessee, South Dakota, Idaho, and Montana. Only Maine and Alaska use it at the statewide level, where ranked-choice voting passed by slim margins through ballot initiatives that were heavily funded by special interests.

Winners lose and losers win.

  • In Maine’s 2018 Second Congressional District election, more than 8,000 ballots were thrown in the trash. Bruce Poliquin (R) received 46.33 percent of the vote ahead of Jared Golden’s (D) 45.58 percent. But since Poliquin didn’t receive 50 percent, there was a second round of tabulation. The secretary of state threw out more than 8,000 ballots and Golden was declared the winner—but with only 49.2 percent of the total ballots cast.
  • In Alaska’s 2022 congressional special election, Republican candidates received 60 percent of the vote in the first round, but the Democrat won. Nearly 15,000 were trashed, and the Democrat won by a little more than 5,000 votes.

Maine, yes. Where a Republican won the race for Congress but lost thanks to rank choice voting, which is… unconstitutional in Maine … for state-level races.

Hmmm.
