MACDONALD: Ex Cop Self Deports, Maine Shifts Blame

Old Orchard Beach, Maine, is short a cop and soon a resident. Jon Luke Evans, a Jamaican who overstayed his visa, got hired as a cop, and then busted for trying to obtain a personal firearm, says he will self-deport.

Maine police officer arrested by immigration authorities has agreed to voluntarily leave the country, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Monday.

Old Orchard Beach Police Department reserve Officer Jon Luke Evans, of Jamaica, was arrested by ICE officials on July 25, as part of the agency’s effort to step up immigration enforcement.

Evans, according to Old Orchard Beach, was cleared for employment through the Federal Government’s E-Verify system, whose use, if you recall, from years past, was both required and racist.

Evans’ arrest touched off a dispute between Old Orchard Beach officials and ICE. Police Chief Elise Chard has said the department was notified by federal officials that Evans was legally permitted to work in the country, and that the town submitted information via the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify program prior to Evans’ employment.

Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin then accused the town of “reckless reliance” on the department’s E-Verify program.

Has anyone told DOGE about this?

I’d expect the Biden Administration to get inside that thing and mess it up to keep as many illegals in the country as possible. The unspoken issue, aside from the fact that the Feds don’t trust their own program and it hasn’t been fixed, is that legal and illegal workers send billions annually to families and in foreign nations. They take American jobs, then take our money and ship it out overseas.

The recent LA riots, the ones Republicans will be using against Democrats in 2026, ala masked illegal surrounded by burning cars on an LA street waving a Mexican flag, started almost immediately after Trump suggested a tax on transfers to Mexico from seasonal and illegal workers in the US.

Not suspicious at all, and while I did not follow up on that “suggestion,” we know it enraged Mexico’s communist el presidente. Inflows os US cash are apparently a significant source of revenue as well as an ongoing economic benefit.

As for E-Verity, an August 8th update states,

E-Verify+ enables employees to complete their Form I-9, select and upload required documentation and receive notifications – all with the privacy of their own E-Verify+ account.

Plus, E-Verify+ helps combat identify fraud and protect American jobs for authorized workers!

Regardless of who is at fault, someone should have told Jon Luke that being employed by the police who gave him a service weapon didn’t make him a citizen, nor does having a valid Visa (remember, his was expired) give you the legal right to purchase a firearm legally.

Evans is in ICE custody pending his self-funded departure back to Jamaica, where he may (perhaps?) apply to work for the police there.
