I’m not sure we can call this FAFO. It’s more like discovering that the inseparable thing you have loved and promoted would have absolutely no problem “killing” you. And there’s really no excuse. Plenty of people, experts, institutions, and even political leaders warned you. Don’t feed that thing, or it will eat you alive once it’s big enough not to care.
Even if it kills itself.
Progressivism is a cancer and Seattle is at (or at least approaching) stage 4. NYC is already at Stage 4, as are California, New York State, and those Progs aren’t having any of that alternative treatment shit. They are all-in and doubling down on the rhetoric and policy that is killing their terrible experiment because they can’t take it to the next step.
Cities and states can’t just institute a police state and force people to stay and suffer the regret of their electoral mistakes. They can leave, and it’s gotten so bad in Seattle that Starbucks is bailing for Nashville, and the Dems who drove them off can’t make them stay.
Just a few weeks ago, Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson infamously giggled when asked if she was concerned about wealthy residents fleeing Seattle because of her policies.
“I think the claims that millionaires are going to leave our state are, like, super overblown. And if—the ones that leave, like, bye,” Wilson said to applause at Seattle University. …
…
“Seattle’s mayor, Katie Wilson, has chosen to cast business as a foil rather than a partner,” he wrote. “Her socialist rhetoric vilifies employers, even while she continues to rely on them for revenue. She has encouraged residents who disagree with her policies to leave.”
And so they shall. Sort of.
Starbucks isn’t leaving yet, but it is building a Southern Command Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Jobs it might have created or saved for Seattle will be living in the land of Southern Charm, lower taxes, fewer regulations, great food and music, and while still a blue city, it is trapped in a very red state.
And it’s not just Starbucks.
“Downtown lost an estimated 13,000 jobs in 2025, the steepest decline since the pandemic outside of 2021,” the report said, according to KOMO News. “Office vacancy rates remain stubbornly high at more than 30% overall, with Seattle’s central business district exceeding 32%. Some of downtown’s most valuable office towers have lost more than half their assessed value since 2021.”
Democrats do this anywhere you appear to give them a mandate, by which I mean electing them or allowing them a majority. There is no other path, and you don’t need to take your word for it. Pick a liberal city or state, and you can plot the decline. As the Dem power line rises, everything else goes to shit.
Mayors like Katie Wilson and Zohran Mamdani, or Governors like Abigail Spanberger in Virginia, act like you just gave them permission to let men rape your wives and daughters in the WMCA locker room, and if you complain, they will send their DOJ after you for hate speech and civil rights violations.
I’m not joking.
There is middle on the Left, and any Democrat who runs on that is lying to you. They know the caucus is commanded by the far left, and refusing to kneel to it makes them the enemy. The left has long doxxed and intimidated its own to keep them in line. Threats of violence are not limited to the center or the right. You are with them all the way, all the time, or you are dead to them, and if you end up dead, they will celebrate.
You can’t vote for them and think there is any other outcome. They will drive away the tax base and leave you holding the bill because the other truth is that there is no such thing as a government that is too big or too intrusive.
With them or against them, they can never stop reaching into your pocket. They can never relieve you alone.
Just ask Starbucks.
They want to stay in Seattle, but if it gets bad enough, they can flip a switch and move it all to Nashville while most of the rest of Seattle is trapped there to deal with what, arguably, Starbucks enabled.
