IMANI: Roya

My recently released book, Roya, is more than a memoir of lost love; it is a haunting exploration of the intensity of youth in a vanished Iran. It is for anyone who has ever searched through the pages of a book to find a mirror for their own devotion.

The woman seems to possess an exquisite, altogether unearthly, symmetry, “like a female and rake separated from her mate.” He senses that he is the mate, whose soul “had bordered on her soul,” only when he  closes his eyes does he feel “sudden tranquility.” When he finally touches her, he realizes it by her coldness. Is she real or is creation of his mind?

So, the book is written in a first-person perspective and is divided into two parts. The first part is where the action takes place, and the second part is basically giving us a different story at a different time and reality that connects to the first part of the events that occurred.

The narrator is puzzled whether this love is real or is just an imagination, or, as he wants us to believe, it is only an inspiration. Here is a short excerpt:

“The purpose of writing this is that I wanted her to know I felt her presence all these years and believed in eternal love. She has been thunderstruck at this declaration, a declaration of words and actions indicative of the most violent emotional experience. And this drama continues to play out on the good old Earth. And I watch the drama unfold before my eyes and yearn for eternal happiness.

As the words pour through my pen, a torrent of emotions surges through the air, electrifying the atmosphere with the intensity of a thunderstorm. The weight of my confession hung in the space between us, trembling with the power to reshape our intertwined destinies. As I visualized the astonishment in her eyes, the recognition of a truth long concealed beneath our shared existence revealed itself. It was as if the universe paused in anticipation, awaiting the outcome of this cosmic collision of hearts. And at that moment, as the world continued its relentless dance of joy and sorrow, I was transfixed by the unfolding drama, an eager spectator yearning for the ultimate resolution. The depths of my soul echoed with the reverberations of eternal longing, a fervent desire for happiness that transcends the temporal boundaries of our earthly existence. Oh, I must bring her back to life  one more time.”

Though years have passed since those childhood adventures, the essence of that time remains etched within me. It is a reminder that amidst the crowded corridors of our memories, there are moments of pure magic that can transport us back to a world where everything was possible. And in these moments, I am no longer shivering or suffocated, but rather embraced by the warmth of a love that transcends time and space.”

Find out in the pages of ROYA.  This book is a result of 20 years of pain and suffering to find closure.  Perhaps a closure is a myth. But you can find meaning and new hope.
