OPINION: SAVE America Act

Imagine having elected leaders who would put the American people before political party and personal gain.

Imagine having elected leaders who would put the welfare of American citizens before non-citizens.

Imagine having elected leaders who would put their lives and their personal fortunes on the line for the survival of their country.

Imagine having elected leaders who believe in a divine power, one that will ultimately judge their actions.

Our forebears didn’t have to imagine such leaders, they were blessed with them.

Unfortunately, far too many of our senators and representatives are not leaders, they are political puppets.

With few exceptions, they serve themselves and their party, not their country and all her people.

The Save America Act is the most recent example of this self-serving behavior.

Imagine telling the American people that women and minorities, who were educated under their watch, are somehow not smart enough to get an ID or register to vote.

Think about that.

Imagine telling the American people that boys should be allowed to play in girls’ sports simply because they want to.

Imagine allowing children to make decisions about irreversible life-altering surgeries before graduating from high school.

Think about that.

Most Americans support this legislation, yet their “representatives” choose not to. Why is that?

I think we all know, yet we continue to allow it to happen.

Have we forgotten that these political puppets work for us?

Isn’t it time we take back the control strings from the party bosses, lobbyists, big donors, foreign donors, and the like?

Imagine having representatives who would go to Washington and do the work of the people, unconstrained by their current puppet masters?

Imagine what they could accomplish for the people, besides the common-sense legislation put forth in the Save America Act.

Imagine representatives who would support establishing term limits, craft and pass a comprehensive immigration bill, and eliminate the fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. These few goals would be just the beginning.

The first step to making this a reality would be for all of us to call or write our politicians and remind them that they work for us.

If you support the common sense Save America Act, call your representatives and tell them what you want.

If they listen to the majority of their constituents and vote accordingly, then they’re your representative.

If they tell you why they can’t do what the majority wants, then they’re somebody else’s puppet.

This isn’t about party, this is about people, we the people.
