The professional Proglodytes doing business as elected Democrats and their media moron allies have been working overtime to paint the SAVE ACT as a thing that will disenfranchise “voters.” I know, what do you mean, another SAVE ACT Post? Sorry, I thought I’d take a different angle on it than last time.
The Donkey party has made outrageous claims about the intellectual agility of its own voters. Women, minorities, did I miss anyone? They are too stupid to get their own Birth Certificate or an ID. They won’t be able to vote. It will disenfranchise millions. I find this defense fascinating. The party that finds a way to invent millions of ballots (Biden), manages to get dead people to vote, used other people’s names to launder money to political campaigns (ActBlue), fomented multi-level welfare fraud in Blue States (to launder money to allies and themselves), can’t overcome this problem?
I bet they can, but that’s not the real problem.
The SAVE ACT exists because millions, perhaps tens of millions, of American citizens are disenfranchised voters. Legal and eligible voters stopped voting because politicians mangled the system in such a way that their votes were meaningless. I’ll give you an example. For decades, the political establishment in New Hampshire, led by Democrats, has insisted on and defended “student voting rights. “That does not mean students whose parents live in the Granite State, and who can apply for and get reduced in-state tuition rates. They mean students who can’t get in-state tuition and whose parents live outside New Hampshire.
Thousands of ineligible voters flood the polls in college towns that lean politically the way the majority of them do. Left. Voters in those towns can’t possibly know if the measures passed or the candidates put in office represent them, so many just don’t vote.
In the past, New Hampshire has allowed and defended same-day voters from just about anywhere who show up with temporary residence claims, who say they feel like they are a Granite Stater. Their vote gets counted whether they stay or go, and most of them go. Legal challenges meet roadblocks, and while we’ve niggled and nibbled at the edges, our elections lack integrity.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of voters are disenfranchised. They just don’t bother.
And that is exactly what the Left wants.
The SAVE ACT is in response to disenfranchised voters in federal elections. If it passes, the Left loses a significant opportunity for fraud, as well as a decline in the overarching feeling of futility with the process. If non-citizens can’t vote, like- for real – there is added legal groundwork for invalidating claims or access to other goodies while more real Americans start showing up at the polls.
We need this thing because it sends a message that our government really cares about our vote. It is important, and the results of these votes are what Democracy and the Republic are all about. Knowing with at least some measure of reason that the thing or person is actually who or what the lawful residents want.
It scares the crap out of the left.
By the way, here in New Hampshire, the same lefties are losing their shit over a bill that would invalidate student ID as proof of residency to vote in New Hampshire. You would not be able to present a student ID to register or get a ballot. You’d have to use a driver’s license or a passport, most of which, in many cases, will have an out-of-state address.
It scares the crap out of the left.
They could lose seats in the legislature, a shot at taking back the governor’s office, executive council seats, and…here’s the big one, lose thousands of votes for the US House and US Senate.
Out-of-State student voters have been making New Hampshire purple for years. Democrats have been protecting their right to vote in two states, while Granite Staters can vote in only one. They were not protecting student voting rights. They were defending fraud which benefitted them.
Congressional Dems are doing the exact same thing.
