Mr. Trump has had a long list of successes in his first year. Most Americans are not aware of them because while they may have voted for him, they watch Handmaid media outlets. The last honest thing they reported was Trump winning the office.
Most of the coverage has been in support of the calculated or planned outrage, not all of which has advanced the progressive cause. Setting things on fire might light up the eyes of the TDS left, but most of America frowns on that sort of protest. They did a bit better on the affordability thing, and the success of that remains to be seen, but as I’ve suggested repeatedly, a good old counter campaign (Democrats only make things more expensive) might loosen any ground they’ve gained. The rise of Spanberger and Mamdani helps that cause as well.
Promise cheaper things, and they make it all cost more, because that is the only thing Democrats know. Sorry, we can’t forget about decreased access or availability. Not only will it all cost more, but there will also be a lot less of it. If Republicans can put a bow on that, Dems are screwed this November.
On the other side of that coin, we have the calculated or planned outrage. Anti-ICE, No Kings, illegals surrounded by burning cars, waving Mexican flags on American streets. I think we can add the trans-shooters, and now their thugs are threatening the families of victims of these shooters.
As I wrote in a column earlier this week, “Democrats in the Trump era don’t have policy ideas; they have public fits of pique that eventually become rallies and/or riots.”
We have seen that “strategy” on full display to kick off this year. They’re hoping that the seemingly endless anti-ICE protests will sufficiently demonize the agents, the Trump administration, and any politicians associated with him to propel the Democrats to victory next November. Seriously, the platform is pro-violent criminals and anti-law enforcement. That’s what they’re going with. …
The people running the Democratic Party only do things that appeal to people who already agree with them. They take rabid Trump-haters and turn them into really, really rabid Trump-haters. All of that extra frothing probably won’t help them win back any of the voters they lost in 2024. The voters who abandoned the Dems and voted for Trump knew where things were going with immigration enforcement.
Keeping your rabid base engaged during the midterms could well be enough for the left. Those elections are all about turnout. Get your people to the polls, and you can win seats you likely don’t deserve during a Presidential election year. Local, State, County, and state-level races, too.
So, while the political performance art or proglodyte street theatre might only appeal to the far left, if the Right can’t match it and then some, Mr. Trump’s last two years will be a repeat of 2019 and 2020 but uglier. Relying on Americans to get tired of the bad behavior isn’t going to get them to the polls, no matter how the media spins it.
I’ve heard rumors that Team Trump has an aggressive mid-term plan and obscene amounts of money to deploy it. No clue what, how, where, or when, but where the GOP is ordinarily a bunch of rhetorical limp-dicked beta-males, Trump’s team will be doubling down on the T.
It is also likely, or at least possible, that all this positive GDP growth and improved real jobs reports could kick into high gear over the summer. If life goes from the promise of affordable prices on core items, groceries, and everyday staples to actual lower prices, it will add plenty of oxygen to whatever political fire Team Trump has planned.
I prefer to stay optimistic, and we are here to do our part. Don’t wait to do yours. Screen grab the crazy or local Democrat support for it. Even implied support. Keep it close and as the elections loom, send it our way, share it on social media, and share what we report. They hate it when you use their own words against them. But if you wait too long, they’ll have scrubbed it, hidden it, blocked you, and you know they are out there praying for the chaos and outrage. But you need receipts to prove it.
People are tired of it. They don’t want to have to go about their regular day, wondering if it will get in their way or ruin their day. They long ago wore out their welcome, and that extends to the political class, which doesn’t just aid and abet it but also encourages, funds, advertises, and rewards it.
And the monsters you create inevitably come back to haunt you.
