After the recent debacle in the Senate, with Democrats refusing to pass a “clean” continuing resolution, and with Republicans having to create a special bill containing both the “clean” CR and a few spending bills that passed the house, we know who actually has the power in the Senate.
And it isn’t the Republicans.
The Democrats managed to create a road bump that the Republicans couldn’t get over without Democrat assistance, and the Democrats know it. Then add one more Republican roadblock: Rand Paul, who wouldn’t sign onto funding unless the restrictions on hemp were removed.
Hemp? Really??
A mostly insignificant issue was the reason that a Republican decided to withhold his support for a funding bill?
I’ll say it now: Rand Paul voted with the Democrats to keep the government shut down.
If the Republicans keep shoving poison pills into funding bills that their own party members can’t accept, then maybe they don’t deserve to be in charge.
At least we know what we get with Democrats.
Now we know what we get with some Republicans.
But… hemp???
