Oh, Baseball World Series time again! Seventy years ago, baseball was America’s favorite pastime.
As little boys, on our way home from school, we ran to the Chevy dealership on Delaware Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware, to watch the game. Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and Moose Skowron were the stars we hoped to see win the game. Whitey Ford was on the mound, striking out the other team. Those little boys remain grateful for that great joy to this day!
Today, the Big Money has stolen that childhood joy from our little girls and boys. Big-money scrooges have World Series games end after midnight when almost nobody is watching.
Of course, there is more behind what happened, but that is how this little boy remembers it.
