MACDONALD: Women, A Warning, and Wal-Mart?

Here’s a story to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, like you’ve been roofied and set up to be kidnapped. That’s the story of this woman who was handed some wrapped books outside Wal-Mart that likely had a transdermal drug or sedative meant to make her easy prey.

I did a quick search and, as you’d expect, a lot of attempted kidnappings happen at Wal-Mart.

Woman shares terrifying experience after being attacked, nearly kidnapped at Orlando Wal-mart

All of a sudden, somebody grabbed me full body,” the victim, Veronica Jones, said.

Security cameras captured the struggle as Jones was putting groceries into her car.

“He kept pushing me, I was pinned against my car, he kept pushing me toward my trunk as he was pulling my purse at the same time,” Jones said.

Another woman came to her defense. The attacker was tracked using his ankle monitor, which showed him at the scene.

Naomi Irion, 18, found deceased in Nevada after being kidnapped from Wal-mart parking lot

Naomi Irion, an 18-year-old woman who police say was abducted from a Wal-mart parking lot in Nevada earlier this month, was found deceased this week in Churchill County.

Investigators from the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about Irion’s disappearance on Tuesday that led them to a potential grave site.

..

Surveillance footage released by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office shows a suspect walking from a nearby homeless camp to the parking lot and getting into the driver’s seat of Irion’s car, then driving away in an “unknown direction with Naomi in the passenger seat.”

The suspect they arrested had a previous criminal record. 15 years in prison for covering up a murder and a string of robberies.

Man accused of kidnapping woman outside Bentonville Wal-mart enters not guilty plea

Marco Morales, 20, was arrested on Nov. 11, 2024, after a woman arrived at the sheriff’s office to report that she’d been kidnapped and raped while walking to her car in the Wal-mart parking lot.

She continued to her vehicle and got into the driver’s seat, court documents said. A masked man, later identified as Morales, then reportedly jumped into the passenger seat and showed a gun, telling her to stay calm and that he didn’t want to hurt her and instructed her to drive.

There are many stories like this, but none quite like the one in the video.

Be careful out there, ladies.

And I’m not conflating Wal-Mart with kidnappings. There are many of them, and many people go there. It just happens to be a target-rich environment.
