MACDONALD: Is The Nobel Peace Prize Still A Dog If Trump Gets It?

There is growing excitement about the possibility that President Donald Trump, who has been nominated by a growing list of world leaders, could win the Nobel Peace Prize. Mr. Trump has been actively involved in trying to spread Peace. He is anti-interventionist, for the most part. And he is, realistically, the only guy who seems like he wants peace in places like Ukraine and Gaza.

A Nobel would look great on the shelf at Trump Tower or Mar-A-Lago. Supporters would love it. Opponents will make faces and heap scorn. And let’s be honest, the same Nobel committee gave Obama a Peace Prize for doing nothing, after which he started wars, drone struck people, and all the rest of it.

Obama won it in 2009,” for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” when he’d done no such thing and never did. Bowing to foreign dignitaries is appeasement and Low T behavior, which the Bamster contrasted with the surge in Afghanistan. He bombed Libya. He stirred up unrest with the color revolutions as a way to empower the Muslim Brotherhood. He also took a peaceful America and took improving race relations (his election should have been capped as complete) and turned it into a hot race war that divided white and black, and the police he was arming with bearcats into the enemy.

Barry was a bit of an asshole and never lived up to the hype, but it was not the first time the Peace Prize was awarded based on the presumption of good intentions that never materialized.

They should stop doing that.

If Trump were to get the thing, there are actual examples where he intervened and something like peace bloomed. Suppose he can help end the Ukraine Conflict or something like lasting peace in Gaza (which arguably might require all of Hamas getting killed, which is not exactly peaceful). In that case, there’s no reason not to acknowledge the legitimacy.

It would also relieve any Obama Peace Prize envy, if that’s a real thing (I’ve heard it suggested in the center-right media).

The Nobel Committee has awarded the Peace Prize to legitimate recipients on many occasions, and within the last decade, certainly. However, since we’re working in the American Political landscape, it is still viewed with some disdain after Obama received it and then proved he never deserved it.

We should probably get over that.
