We can’t escape the fact that there are insincere people on every side of an issue, but it is the left that has gone out of its way to politicize everything because, as Mussolini explained, there can be nothing outside the state. Everything must be political, even the idea that exhortations against the politicization of something are themselves that very thing.
Democrats will wail about the prospect of family members, children in particular, being used as props or dragged into policy disagreements, but only theirs. They are allowed to use them as props for political advantage. At the same time, it is open season on their opponents’ families, children, friends, and even acquaintances if it advances an agenda item on their bucket list. The biggest of all being the right to use fear and intimidation to silence anyone who would challenge them.
Children, for example, by their insistence, have a right to be pawns in their political culture war over sex and gender. But this socio-political grooming culture isn’t political until you object to it, the risks, harms, and growing body of science showing the gender cult provides none of the advertised benefits at significant physical and emotional risk.
You’re a bigot and a hater for bringing it up, and you are accused of politicizing children. Understanding this mental state is something Jordan Peterson has made into an art form. In a recent conversation with Riley Gaines, he ponders her self-labeled status as an activist, considers it inaccurate, and through the process of working out a better term, reminds us what the activist left is in contrast.
I love the malicious envy analysis and his reference to Orwell because it’s so true. Also sadistic. You’d have to be to insist that despite all the harms your solutions exacerbate, you insist on more of that same solution and more government to enforce the rules you’ve erected to ensure the misery continues.
Say what you want about the center right, and they do, but giving people the ability to suffer or not free from the planned misery of Democrat-Socialism is an idealism with an out. While the Progressive plan has no better outcome for anyone but the political class, the opposition leaves you avenues to achieve success at your level of interest and on your own terms.
Certainly, there will be people who cannot or will not find a possible parity between work and success, but given the opportunity, more individuals will find a happy middle, while a few overachievers will achieve significant success. Human nature ensures that this inequality of outcomes is one that an immoral government can never equalize through force, but will always feel compelled to attempt. The people attracted to these positions are more likely to be dark tetrad types with malicious envy, incapable of leaving anyone alone, and outraged that any other way is preferable to theirs.
Human beings need to be left fail and succeed on their own, with minimal oversight to limit our worst impulses such that those who make a magnificent success are encouraged to help create private institutions that help people lift themselves up instead of the political institutions of the left which only ever seem to be able to keep people down.
