MacDonald: But Cotton Picking Is a “Good Paying” Job, Rep. Crockett

Sandy ‘Gulf Stream’ Cortez is going to have to up her game. I know, the Jet Setting Neiman Marxist, birth mother of the economy-crushing Green New Deal, is emitting tons of unnecessary carbon to fight our oligarchs in front of crowds paid for by hers. The handmaiden media loves it. And she’s always been something of a darling of the very far left. But Squaddie Jasmine Crockett is giving her a run for her money.

Crockett keeps finding ways to get into the news cycle, even without F bombs. Last month, she announced to a room full of ‘the community’ that we done picking cotton.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, a member of the far-left group of progressive lawmakers known as “the Squad,” told congregants at a historically Black church that America needs robust immigration because “we done picking cotton.”  …

“OK, so I’m lying?” Crockett shot back, noticing the awkward silence. “You’re not! You’re not! We done picking cotton! We are. You can’t pay us enough to find a plantation.”

Someone’s “got to pick it,” so Crockett’s point seems to have been that we need illegal aliens for that. Specifically, the ones the Auto-Pen administration bused or flew here. Modern equivalents of slave ships, if you take my meaning. And they need to be here to pick Jasmine’s cotton. Was that why everyone was awkwardly quiet?

Or is it that you can make good money … “picking cotton.”

From 11-21$/hour with a median wage around $17.00.

Yes, the low end for the “profession” is just over 10.00, and the illegal alien rate may be lower, which Jasmine is certainly not advocating because that would violate state and federal labor laws (on top of immigration law). However, as entry-level pay goes, it’s not lousy.

If the reports are correct, the average is $17.00/ hour, with experienced “pickers” bringing home $45K—$81K a year. I assume the higher end includes skills training related to equipment that increases productivity or processing, and leadership or management skills.

Depending on where you look, the average annual individual income in the US is just north of $59,000.00, with yearly household income landing at $77K. If you have two cotton pickers in the family with some acquired skills, you’ve got a good shot at making more than the national household average.

You’ll need four or more of those to make as much as Jasmine Crockett does for one year of dropping F-bombs and shadow dancing with the idea of the Democrat party’s modern immigrant slavery schemes, but not just anyone can do that.

Well, actually, anyone can. Crockett got the job, and she’s not even the dullest knife in the Democrat drawer.

There’s money to be made in cotton, and I bet it’s a job Americans are willing to do. You’ll need to be certified to operate the 6-row spindle harvester or the 8-row stripper harvester, as well as other equipment. And there are other jobs in cotton (tiller, planter, weeding, fertilization, handling, etc.), suggesting it is still slave work, is just plain stupid.

And unless the internet is lying to me, it’s paid work with good income potential. Just not as good as “Congresswoman from Texas.”
