Democrats are increasingly becoming apathetic to the rise in political violence in America, even against their own.
“Assassination culture” has become synonymous with left-wing political activism. Recent data from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) found that a majority of left-wing ideologues justify murdering their political rivals – Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.
“These attitudes are not fringe—they reflect an emergent assassination culture, grounded in far-left authoritarianism and increasingly normalized in digital discourse,” the NCRI wrote.
When one thinks of left-wing culture, violence almost always comes to mind. We witnessed entire towns burn during the George Floyd riots, conservative Trump supporters beaten, Christian school children murdered by a “transgender” former student, the Republican congressional baseball game shooting, and, of course, the most famous instance, the first attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, PA.
Until recently, this violence was almost always concentrated against conservatives, giving Democrats the opportunity to pretend it was justified in some moral way. As if their refusal to condemn it was saying, “Well, the conservatives asked for this to happen, because all right-to-center people are horrible.”
Still, this doesn’t explain why high-profile Democrats have seemingly ignored Cody Balmer (allegedly) setting Democrat Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s home on fire, while he and his entire family were all inside. Balmer, a self-identified socialist and “free Palestine” activist, told 911 dispatchers that he lit the Pennsylvania Governor’s Mansion a blaze because his “people” (the Palestinians) “have been put through too much by that monster.”
Democrat Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), and Jasmine Crockett have been suspiciously silent on the arson attack. VT Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Kamala Harris, who reportedly considered choosing Shapiro as her 2024 running mate, have also not made a public statement either in support of Shapiro or condemning the violence.
Their silence could be for a myriad of reasons. Maybe they expressed their sentiments privately. Perhaps the rise in anti-Semitism among Democrats has something to do with why they don’t care about a Jewish Democrat being attacked in his home. Maybe they don’t like Shapiro, so they lack sympathy for a man who almost lost his life along with his entire family.

Regardless of the reasoning behind why they are ignoring the fire, one thing is undeniably sure: Democrats have become desensitized to violence, even against members of their own party. Their ambivalence to assassination culture will ultimately be their downfall.
Democrats are championing the worst version of our society, whether it’s the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, Karmelo Anthony, who admitted to stabbing Austin Metcalf at a Frisco, Texas track meet, or a deported MS-13 gang member.
A California man even submitted a ballot initiative named after Mangione, called the “Luigi Mangione Access to Health Care Act.”
While regular Americans want the violence to end, Democrats are seemingly turning a blind eye in hopes it will eventually rid them of their political obstacles. But voters see their embrace of chaos. They rejected Democrats in November when they elected Trump and gave him a Republican-controlled Congress. (Trump Has The Perfect Opportunity To Fix One Of Biden’s Biggest Failures)
It’s hard to see a positive political outcome for a party who’s empathy lies with rapists, murders, and terrorists.
