A Little DOGE Talk and Tariff History

It is very frustrating to see the protests, rallies, and news reports about President Trump and Elon Musk working hard to destroy our economy and democracy. All these activities are done by people ignorant of the facts or feeding an agenda. Either way, these people are pawns of the Left who are aiding and spreading a false narrative to damage Trump and his Administration.

DOGE has been talked about since Clinton/Gore stood on the North Lawn of the White House, surrounded by reams of paper supposedly detailing the millions or billions of programs approved by the government and wasting American tax dollars. The same scene played out with Obama/Biden, but the only problem with both administrations is that it was all done for show, and nothing was done to curb government waste, fraud, and corruption.

Donald Trump campaigned on the promise of solving the ridiculous waste of our money, and like all of his promises, he is putting this one into action, promises made and promises kept. For keeping his word, there were over 1,000 coordinated protests from coast to coast this past Saturday. These “mostly peaceful” events have resulted in dozens of TESLA dealerships being torched or attacked with Molotov cocktails. TESLAs on dealer lots or being driven by innocent individuals. Cars were keyed, spray-painted, or torched, and this weekend, we nearly had our first personal casualty when a large rock was thrown by a protester through the windshield of a moving TESLA, striking a pregnant woman.

She was very fortunate, but the reaction of liberal people from Congress was appalling. Sandy Cortez stumbled and failed to construct a sentence when asked about the incident by a reporter. Congresswoman Summer Lee from Pennsylvania is living under a rock; she responded with “no opinion” and “I am not really following those events.” This has been one of the major news stories in the country for the last three months, and this is the best these two feckless representatives could muster. They are disappointing and disgusting.

As for tariffs, again, these people have no recollection of history. Tariffs have been used since the 1800s and were once our most significant source of revenue for the government. Over the last 100 years, other countries have gotten wealthy by placing massive tariffs on American goods, while incurring no tariffs on goods exported to America. Trump, again, promised action and is delivering.

He had promised to level the free market playing field while enticing American businesses to bring factories and production back to America. Trump’s plan is working on both fronts, but American financial markets are panicking, and people are buying the rhetoric rather than the facts. The tariffs went into effect on April 2, and some countries immediately dropped the tariffs they were charging America.

Over 50 countries have initiated talks to strike a tariff deal. American companies have pledged trillions of dollars in investments in America, which will create thousands of new jobs. Made in America will once again be a proud statement by some companies. The bottom line is we have been paying tremendous tariffs on exported goods for years, but we cannot handle a few days of market declines. The markets will come back. Unfortunately, common sense may never return to some Americans.
