RFK Jr. Orders FDA To Eliminate Exemption That Allows Harmful Chemicals To Be In Our Food.

HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr has asked the Food and Drug Administration to rethink a past practice that allowed food companies to tell the FDA if they thought some chemical was safe for humans. Under this regime, everything is assumed safe until evidence of harm exists.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is working towards eliminating the Food and Drug Administration’s program called GRAS, known as “generally recognized as safe.”

“For far too long, ingredient manufacturers and sponsors have exploited a loophole that has allowed new ingredients and chemicals, often with unknown safety data, to be introduced into the U.S. food supply without notification to the FDA or the public,” Kennedy said Monday in a statement in an HHS release

I hope he takes a similar tack with the government agencies themselves. Their guidance has been harming Americans for decades and they should not be trusted with our health.

I know; that’s why he’s there. And he’ only had the gig a few weeks, so this is not bad news and points us in the proper direction.
