Or, at least the taxpayer funding of them
Colleges and universities, with few exceptions, are Marxist education camps run by credentialed commies. Big Government, the deep state, and nearly every federal department, in addition to USAID, pump money into them—obscene, absurd sums of your taxdollars.
Some portion of this stimulates practical, productive science. Still, if were honest about it, if the project was truly useful or innovative, there would be private money to fund it. Lots of it, with a prenup that allows the backers to profit from any helpful discovery. Progress would not end if the Feds stopped financing anti-American colleges with your money, and free market accountability would bear down on the need for researchers to avoid waste, fraud, and abuse.
The current campus climate benefits from both public and private money, but the Trump administration has made it clear that no one is getting taxdollars if they are promoting CRT, DEI, or the transgender agenda (with a side of foreign students supporting Hamas can expect to be repatriated to their homeland). If they continue to engage in DEI discrimination or the promotion of anti-science culture like transgenderism, the money will stop, and federal prosecutions could begin.
The question administrators need to ask is which is more important. Do they need the money, or will they defend the indoctrination?
The NCAA demonstrated its priorities before the ink was dry on Trump’s signature. It stood up and said (in a loud, clear, and definitive voice) no men in women’s sports. We will henceforth separate the penises and vaginas in the bathrooms, locker rooms, and on the field. Translation: money is more important than that other stuff. The National Collegiate Athletic Association’s priority is funding, and if some future president says you don’t get money unless you put tits on a bull, the NCAA will say yes, your grace, and get right to it.
Are America’s Colleges and universities prepared to go without (assuming they lose the lawsuits they will likely file). Can the elite commies in the education industrial complex drop their virtue signaling in favor of what amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars in grants annually?
I’m hoping they will stick to their cultural guns – despite many schools pre-ditching their DEI in preparation for Trump’s day one. There is so much more good that could be done by leaving all that cash in the pockets of the people who earned it (or those not yet born who will have to pay the debt service).
As I noted above, vital research will eventually find funding, while less prudent avenues of investigation can beg Peter Lewis (Progressive Ins.), John Hormel (Hormel), or George Soros (beneficiary of US Govt money himself) for funding. And there are others, but these guys didn’t get rich wasting money on garbage research so don’t count on them writing you a check to analyze the social impact on cats of transgender mice.
