Controversy over efforts to reduce fraud in the federal government roils daily headlines: the latest kerfuffle concerns lay-offs of “Epidemic Intelligence Service officers,” or “disease detectives,” as the EIS calls them on its website. The firings followed Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s HHS Secretary confirmation by mere hours, leading some Americans to howl foul while the opposing camp rooted for still more routing. EIS is part of the CDC, which now serves at the pleasure, or displeasure, of Secretary Kennedy.
The CDC touts itself as “the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven, service organization that protects the public’s health.” Americans face a far greater risk of being murdered by a member of Tren de Araugua than bird flu, but CDC does not dispatch detectives to investigate gangs – only asymptomatic cases of bird flu in veterinarians.
The CDC claims:
CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same.
That sounds quite heroic, but where was the CDC when COVID-19 broke out in China? Were its “disease detectives” involved in figuring out how it started, or instead obscuring its gain-of-function origins to protect billions of dollars of investments in preference to protecting Americans? The agency has been on top of the monkeypox “pandemic,” but more like the “three wise monkeys” on COVID-19 origins.
Origins of Vaccine Hesitancy
Vanity Fair published an article in June 2021 that traced COVID-19 specifically to bat virus studies at the Wuhan Institute of Virology subtitled “Throughout 2020, the notion that the novel coronavirus leaked from a lab was off-limits. Those who dared to push for transparency say toxic politics and hidden agendas kept us in the dark.” Days later, the Wall Street Journal published “The Science Suggests a Wuhan Lab Leak: The Covid-19 pathogen has a genetic footprint that has never been observed in a natural coronavirus,” discussing the Wuhan Institute’s “work intentionally supercharging viruses to increase lethality (known as “gain-of-function” research).”
The CDC has avoided addressing the origins of COVID-19, but the stakes have always been extremely high for the multi-billion-dollar gain-of-function “stakeholders” eviscerated if the disease leaked from a Wuhan lab, versus protecting American’s health (the stated mission of the CDC). Are mRNA vaccines salvific, or are they themselves a money scam for Big Pharma to “rescue” humanity from the diseases created by microbial research? It is unclear where the CDC “detectives” have been investigating.
In March 2023, BBC reported that former CDC head Dr. Robert Redfield claimed he was sidelined over his COVID-19 origin views when he headed the agency during the outbreak, suggesting the CDC was not very supportive of its chief disease detective:
“He told the House select subcommittee … it was “not scientifically plausible” to him that the virus had natural origins.
“It was told to me that they wanted a single narrative, and that I obviously had a different point of view,” he said. “Science has debate and they squashed any debate.”
“During his testimony, Dr Redfield also spoke of his opposition to so-called gain of function research, in which viruses are manipulated to become more infectious in lab environments. …He said that US agencies had likely funded such research at the Wuhan Institute.
“The House probe comes a week after FBI Director Christopher Wray said an unintentional lab incident was “most likely” how Covid originated.
“A few days before that, the US Department of Energy said it had found the virus was most likely the result of a lab leak in Wuhan, but could only reach that conclusion with “low confidence.”
The CIA also concluded COVID-19 most likely originated in a lab. CDC’s “Epidemic Intelligence Service officers” have remained self-sidelined.
CDC and Porous Borders
CDC condemns vaccine deniers on its website, claiming “….the spread of myths and misinformation has put some communities at risk. When misleading information circulates, vaccination coverage can fall and increase the risk for outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.” Are unvaccinated Americans really a threat? Millions of illegal immigrants previously border-screened for measles, TB, and other infectious diseases have slipped not only through border fences but the CDC disease detectives’ radar.
In a 2015 “fact check” about immigrant-borne disease transmission, a CDC “expert” supported claims that such concerns were a “false narrative,” exhibiting investigative skills that would make Columbo and Barnaby Jones cringe:
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, however, has specifically noted that children entering the country illegally from Central America present little risk of spreading diseases among the public.
Furthermore, the CDC found that the strain of enterovirus was genetically similar to strains found in the U.S., Europe and Asia in previous years, suggesting the outbreak did not start via immigration from Central and South America….
“The measles outbreak in the U.S., which includes most of the 102 cases in 14 states between Jan. 1 and Jan. 30 this year, likely did originate from outside this country. Whether it came from an immigrant living in the U.S. illegally, however, is unknown. According to Anne Schuchat, an assistant surgeon general and director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, illegal immigration is not the likely culprit.”
Watching the Disease Detectives
In his 1977 classic rock ballad Watching the Detectives, Elvis Costello ironically if unwittingly presaged the COVID-19 origin cover-up by likely culprits Fauci and CDC:
“She is watching the detectives
When they shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot [their jabs?]
They beat him up until the teardrops start
But he can’t be wounded ’cause he’s got no heart
You think you’re alone until you realize you’re in it
Now fear is here to stay, love is here for a visit
Oh, I get so angry when the teardrops start
But you can’t be wounded when you’ve got no heart.”
Costello couldn’t have known that Fauci had no heart when he dripped crocodile tears for Americans’ health and safety while covering for gain-of-function research. Large numbers of understandably “vaccine-hesitant” Americans distrust faux Fauci and the vaccines he peddled for Big Pharma, and the origin-silent CDC as well. Bird flu fearmongering shows the “fear is here to stay.” Yet, many citizens fear the CDC more than chickens and dairy cows, and see Bobby Kennedy as better gain-of-function disease protection than social distancing or porous Chinese masks.
Pharmaganda No Longer Trumps Science
Fearmongering has included raging senatorial rants against Kennedy as a threat to vaccines and their un-scientifically-challengeable safety. One recent headline spouts “Dark day: “The country is less safe”: CDC disease detective program gutted. CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service is as critical to public health as it is revered.” Many Americans don’t share such reverence, and see transparency and truth as critical.
CDC and Big Pharma are no longer immunized from scientific inquiry under the controversial new HHS Secretary. When asked about CDC disease detectives on the dole, Kennedy cryptically answered: “If you’ve been involved in good science, you’ve got nothing to worry about. If you care about public health, you’ve got nothing to worry about….”
There’s a new HHS sheriff in town, watching the CDC detectives.
