Participation Trophies For The Worst Of The Swamp

by John Loftus

At this point, President Joe Biden — the absent president, the ghost president — could only salvage a snippet of his legacy if he awarded John Daly with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and decreed that henceforth, every summer will be “White Boy Summer.”

Biden, instead, is handing out participation trophies for some of the worst people in the swamp in his final weeks in office.

Former Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney and Democratic Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, the two deep state weasels who led the frivolous Jan. 6 congressional Select Committee, each received the Presidential Citizens Medal, the second highest civilian award in the country. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans Call Out Cassidy Hutchinson’s J6 Testimony, Threaten Subpoena If She Does Not Produce Documents)

As is typical of the political establishment that loves itself, it just had to dish out an award to someone like the warmongering Liz Cheney, who has made the country worse over the past two decades and served the deep state loyally in the process.

“Throughout two decades in public service, including as a Congresswoman for Wyoming and Vice Chair of the Committee on the January 6 attack, Liz Cheney has raised her voice—and reached across the aisle—to defend our Nation and the ideals we stand for: Freedom. Dignity. And decency. Her integrity and intrepidness remind us all what is possible if we work together,” Biden said of Cheney.

If anything, every word in Biden’s statement on his choice to award Cheney should be read with its opposite meaning.

“Two decades in public service” should read “two decades screwing over the American people.”

“Reached across the aisle” should read “siding with the party that will benefit her career.”

“Defend[ing] our Nation and the ideals we stand for: Freedom. Dignity. And decency” should read “Defending the Swamp and the ideals it stands for: Bureaucracy. Forever Wars. And apathy.”

“Integrity and intrepidness” should read “corruption and cowardice.”

What this particular award to Cheney and Thompson amounts to is a participation trophy. Congratulations on leading your country into wars it can never win! Congratulations for being my hatchet man for Jan. 6 and using congressional power to attack my political opponent and his supporters! Congratulations on being participants in Team Swamp!

For Biden, it’s a fitting legacy to leave. Biden’s entire career, from soup to nuts, junior Delaware senator to president, has been defined by his uncanny ability to stick around and play the game, no matter the cost, even if it meant putting his family and son through a crucible. Biden hasn’t contributed much to this country’s prosperity. In fact, he has impoverished it. But he never questioned the powers that be; he always played for Team Swamp. It’s no surprise, then, that he feels compelled to reward some of his longtime teammates, even if they don’t deserve such a lofty honor.
