Kamala Harris is fresh off her long vacation after a bitter and disappointing loss to Donald Trump in November. Most probably didn’t know she was away as there was little noteworthy when she was in Washington. Apparently, Harris has been weighing her options since she will be unemployed as of January 20. One thing is for sure: a speaking tour is not on the options table. It was painful to watch any of her speeches during the campaign.
Harris stole the nomination away from Joe Biden without winning a primary. As a matter of fact, in two Presidential runs, she has yet to get a vote. But there she was atop the Democrat ticket in 2024. Her first bad decision was her running mate, Tim Walz of Minnesota. The Harris team did little or no vetting, as it was discovered in the first week that he exaggerated his coaching resume as well as his military record. These should have eliminated him from the race, but he is a Democrat. It has to be a far more egregious crime than lying to get canned in this party.
Harris and her lousy wingman, Tim, did a great job of fundraising but a horrific job of politicking. They squandered an early lead as well as over $1 billion. In typical Democrat fashion, Harris blew through the money in record time and left the campaign in debt for $20 million. Donors are nowhere to be found since she dropped the ball and lost to Trump. Harris is the first Democrat presidential candidate not to flip a single county in the race. Harris may be the worst presidential candidate in modern history, but it is unsurprising coming out of the worst administration ever.
With all this negative baggage, you would think Harris would walk away on January 20 and call it quits on future political aspirations. But not Kamala. She obviously sees more in herself than anyone else does. Insiders claim Harris is weighing her options between running for governor of California in 2026 or rolling the dice for president again in 2028. She deserves neither, but that is for the voters to decide.
At best, Harris has a checkered political resume, but under closer inspection, what has she done, and what more does she deserve from public service? She got her start in politics by appointment by former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. Harris dated former Willie Brown in 1994 and 1995. As the state assembly speaker, Brown appointed her to two political posts: the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and later the Medical Assistance Commission. She took the jobs and dumped the Mayor. She parlayed that start into the Attorney General for California and then the Senate. She accomplished little in any of these positions, which accounts for her horrible presidential run in 2020. She attacked Joe Biden in the debate and then was destroyed by Tulsi Gabbard. She dropped out of that race before any primary votes were cast or caucuses met.
The fact that she leads the polls for the Democrat nomination in 2028 shows how weak the bench is for the immediate future. The Harris loss marks the end of the Obama Democrats. They overplayed the Socialist card, and it was rejected by every voting matrix. Donald Trump was able to attract more voters than any Republican candidate. He won because people were enamored with his beliefs and vision, but also because they had tried the Democrat way and wanted to see a return to normalcy and the America they knew and still wanted. The Democrats will need to retool their party, but first, they must accept they got it wrong. Too many on the Left are not there yet, and that will delay their rise to power.
