To BS or not to BS that is the Question

Scott Brown has an impressive line-up of presidential hopefuls coming to Rye for his “No BS BBQ” series. I have lots of questions ready for some candidates (see Questions for Mike Pence), but some leave me stumped. Here’s where I am

Please leave comments with additional/better questions.

Note that these events are billed as “No BS,” so there is no need to ask about the weather.

*Vivek Ramaswamy—I’ve heard Vivek speak before, nothing popped into my head. Now all I can think of is, “Did you really say Donald Trump is just like Stacy Abrams?”

*Francis Suarez—“Why did you have to pay donors to reach debate threshold?” Or, “who are you?”

*Doug Burgum—ditto.

*Mike Pence—I laid out my questions for Mike Pence last week. Got a lot of great feedback, thanks to all who wrote me. If you missed it, check it out here.

*Tim Scott—“I understand you want to ‘convince people’ rather than bully them, but is that where Democrats are? Your police reform bill died because you couldn’t get ten Democrats to join you in an issue they supported. How will you ‘convince’ them on issues they’re against? For that matter, how will kindness get Putin out of Ukraine or China out of Cuba?” (Hey—“No BS,” remember?).

*Chris Christie—Christie is not on the schedule yet, but I hear he loves a BBQ, so expect to see him soon. I want to ask about who he’s made a deal with this time since he must know BridgeGate killed his electoral chances. We know he wants to do to Donald Trump what he did to Marco Rubio (good luck with that), but who will he endorse after he drops out? I’m guessing DeSantis, as he’s the only one even close to striking distance, and Christie is all about politics.

*DeSantis was already here, I asked him how he can win New Hampshire with his six-week abortion position. He had no answer, surprisingly, other than “I know New England is less conservative than Georgia.”

*I didn’t bother going to see Asa Hutchinson, though I would have asked him how he can support the chemical neutering of children.

*Nikki Haley only took four or five questions when she visited even though she said, as she always does, that she would “stay until every last question is answered.” Not so much. I got home 30 minutes before the event was slated to end, so it sure wasn’t a “ran late” issue.

That’s where I am. Would love some input for other/better No BS questions—though, of course, I can’t guarantee the answers won’t be BS.
