There is a rumor circulating that as recompense for his stepping down after using his position to help a mutual friend avoid getting arrested for DWI, Governor Maggie Hassan could consider offering former Nashua Police commissioner Thomas Pappas a job as a judge.

The Mutual friend is Democrat House Transportation Committee Chairman David ‘Duck Slayer’ Campbell.

If true, and let me remind you that it is just a rumor, that would be an interesting position to put the majority Democrat Executive council in.

Retired hedge fund manager (see also; California Lear-Jet Liberal Billionaire) Tom Steyer had a party at his exclusive abode in San Francisco’s Sea Cliff neighborhood to raise money for Democrat Senators.  New Hampshire’s own multi-millionaire one-percenter Senator Jeanne Shaheen attended the Big-Bankers soiree where they served grass-fed beef from Steyer’s ranch.

Steyer has a mind to become a big (BIG) donor in Democrat politics and since he’s a billionaire banker, he can.

Rent Seeking:

An example of rent-seeking is when a company lobbies the government for loan subsidies, grants or tariff protection. These activities don’t create any benefit for society, they just redistribute resources from the taxpayers to the special-interest group.

Among those industries that are most apt to seek demand tax relief for what is just ordinary business is the Entertainment business.  Film, TV; their financial crie d’acoeur always seems to be “give us monies from your Publick Treasury or we shall go elsewhere (where the Publick Officials are more likely to swoon and hand over that Key simply because of who we are)”.  Politicians may be thinking the equation of most “the giving away of our peoples’ monies will be more than compensated by the extra revenues spent by the production crew” – it hardly ever works out that way.  So it usually comes down to bragging rights: “we have them and you don’t”.

Most of the folks that know me know I blog as an obsession.  As a techie, I have always tried to get to that next step that many bloggers couldn’t.  When many were just using text, we added pictures.  Then added audio interviews, then recorded video, and then finally livestreaming.  We continually added to our capabilities technically in going to events and put them all together to bring events that the MSM wouldn’t cover to those that couldn’t be there (or simply chose not to).

Then drones came on the scene – and I’ve wanted one for quite some time. Not the military type, but the pro-sumer quad or octorotator that would be safe, stable – and can have a camera that could livestream a point of view feed that I otherwise could not get – yet another tool to enhance what we do for our readers and watchers.  However, it seems like Govt is about to, once again, do a one size fits all that would preclude that next step (at either outdoor events or in large ballroom type settings).  From the Telegraph (yes, Kevin, we read you at times; reformatted and emphasis mine)

Bill to restrict drone use in NH gets panel approval

CONCORD – A move to severely restrict the use of drones to protect citizen privacy cleared a key committee Thursday.  State Rep. Neal Kurk, R-Weare, said he has learned from the pitfalls of a failed attempt in 2013 to ban drones from taking pictures of peoples’ houses.  And Kurk said he’s willing to keep compromising to eventually win over support from the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union and the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters, both of which have raised First Amendment concerns about his bill (HB 1620).  “We are all in agreement on what we want to accomplish but just don’t have an agreement yet on how to get there,” Kurk said.

I’m fine and dandy with protecting citizen privacy, especially at their homes.  Doesn’t matter if it is a private, commercial, or  governmental drone (especially a government drone).  But!

Yesterday, while speaking with Ed Naile on GrokTALK!, I brought up the Democrats claims that we are suppressing votes.  That objecting to out-of-state Democrat operatives or out-of-state-rate-tuition-paying college students voting in New Hampshire is a form of vote suppression.   These are people with multiple “domiciles,” a duplicitous “presence,” in multiple states.  (Many of them are paying out-of-state tuition because they do not meet the UNH definition of a New Hampshire resident.)

Most of the operatives leave one campaign to come here for a few days or a few weeks (or just on election day) before heading to the next campaign.   Some may never set foot in the state at all and they are frequently registered to vote simultaneously in more than one state.  So they can vote absentee from any of these “residences,” regardless of where they may physically be, but if we don’t let them vote absentee in New Hampshire, from wherever they are, this is sold as voter suppression?

We touched on the protests in Ukraine yesterday in segment four, and I mentioned an article that provided much needed background.

The motivations of Ukraine’s President Yanukovych were clearly driven by Big Bad Vlad Putin’s Eurasian Union.

The course of the protest has very much been influenced by the presence of a rival project, based in Moscow, called the Eurasian Union. This is an international commercial and political union that does not yet exist but that is to come into being in January 2015. The Eurasian Union, unlike the European Union, is not based on the principles of the equality and democracy of member states, the rule of law, or human rights.
