The very concept of change used by the intelligentsia of the left – which is to say, most of the intelligentsia – is arbitrarily restrictive and tendentious.  It means in practice the particular kinds of changes, through the particular kinds of social mechanisms that they envision.  Other changes – no matter how large or how consequential for the lives of millions of people – tend to be ignored if they occur through other mechanisms and in ways not contemplated by the intelligentsia.  At the very least, such unprescribed developments outside the scope of the vision of the anointed are denied the honorific title of “change.”

Please, don’t give Obama any ideas here!  But, he did say this here in NH at the Concord City Republican Committee meeting:

During his remarks before the Concord City Republican Committee last week, Sen. Lindsey Graham(R-SC) suggested that robust military spending is absolutely necessary to defeat ISIS forces abroad, and that, as president, he would use the military itself to force Congress to reverse budgetary cuts to defense and intel.

In brief audio obtained by BenSwann.com, Sen. Graham purportedly suggests he would use the military to restrict the movement of Congress until they complied:

 

…[A]nd here is the first thing I would do if I were President of the United States: I wouldn’t let Congress leave town until we fix this. I would literally use the military to keep them in if I had to. We’re not leaving town until we restore these defense cuts. We’re not leaving town until we restore the intel cuts.

I don’t always come down hard on elected officials because I have found that sometimes you may not always have all the details of why they do some of the dumb things they do. From dealing with them, especially the ones who get elected to the NH Legislature, I have found many legislators  completely abandon their professed conservative principals within a few weeks after being elected as they come to understand “how the place works.”

“Ed, you don’t understand how the place works.” I hear it all the time.

I went to Frank Guinta’s 5th Town Hall Meeting in 2 months. I may have bones to pick with him right now, but I have to say there is no one who interacts with their constituents, better than Guinta. You can count all of Shea Porters Town Halls on… no hands.

This Meeting was to be geared towards Veterans. Congressman Guinta wanted to hear from them and answer their questions. That was the way it was promoted.

There were 45 in attendance counting his people and the press. There were many older Veterans in attendance. NH has the third largest population of Veterans, in the nation. This was an opportunity for them to talk to their Congressman.

Senator Sharon Carson is the prime sponsor of SB4 which would clarify the one word more than any other in the entire English language (beside “fair”) that is a stumbling block no Legislator or public official can come to terms with, the word “domicile.”

In Black’s Law Dictionary, Edition #4 you will see the word defined as the rest of the United States sees it.

So that NH can get past the mystery that is the meaning of “domicile” and not have to purge non-resident voters from our NH voter checklists who may languish there for a decade, Senator Carson has drafted this bill.

…she was upset that a biological man claiming to be a gender woman was in the ladies locker room. At the time, HER locker room.  And because she was not “accepting enough”, her membership was cancelled.  This comment caught my eye:

Rick expresses the fear that eventually any business with a locker room, changing room, fitting room or bathroom will be forced by government to build “Mens” rooms, “Ladies” rooms,” and a “Choose your sex” room. This is one of those areas where political correctness simply has to be put aside and face up to reality. We have blurred the lines sufficiently about who is a boy and who is a girl, but the simple facts of family and biology remain. You may have been born with the “wrong set of genitalia” for some reason, but you still live in the same society with the rest of us. We are under no obligation to accept your definition when it comes to our own privacy and safety.

Kimberly will probably post the entire article up here at some point but seeing as the vote is tomorrow I wanted to quote Rich Girard (from the article) regarding HB 646 and right to know.

If cases of abuse were really running rampant, we’d hear more than just the anecdotal evidence of some spectacular infraction. The fact is, nobody has quantified the number, seriousness or “cost” of the infractions. The other fact is, the government entities that have to be asked for public information are the ones who create the information and file it. How else are we to obtain but to ask? Frankly, it’s their job to provide the information and, as a taxpayer, I’ve already paid for that job to be done.

I’ve been calling what the elected Republicans have been doing in Concord (as in “we’ve been Jaspered”, as Steve has coined – Democrats pulling the strings of the Democrat appointed Speaker Jasper to get more favorable bills.  After all, if Jasper crosses the Dems, he’s out.  So we Republican voters are secondary to him and the resulting Democrat appointed Majority Leader Jack Flanagan) and in DC (give the Rs big majorities and they are p****** it away) as Kabuki Theater.  Big talk, no results commiserate with bodies we sent them.  Hot Air has this great image that describes this perfectly:

Each of Boehner’s and McConnell’s “defeats” are in fact planned in advance. They are not trying to advance the conservative agenda; they are attempting to con conservatives into believing they have attempted to implement conservative policy, when in fact they were delivering their political deliverables to their Donor Class paymasters all along.

Over the years I’ve commented on how eerily linked DC and Concord political legislation, actions, and events seem to be.  What happens in DC then gets transported to here in Concord.  Elections, similar.  Legislation (especially from the Left), similar. And then Grokster Mike told us during GrokTALK! this past Saturday of this just simply obnoxious news that what happened here in Concord with Democrat appointed Speaker of the House Jasper, we see Democrats in the US House willing to prop up Speaker Boehner in light that the Republicans’ Hastert Rule is now demolished:

Has this ever happened before in the history of the House of Representatives? A profoundly ineffective Speaker, a Speaker so weak that he has to depend on Democrat votes to pass legislation, is given assurances by the opposition party that they will protect him against his own caucus? Via The Hill:

Maybe the people of Windham got tired of all the negative publicity from their school board?   Banning Dodgeball and walking that back.  Refusing US Constitutions an walking that back.   Or it might have been the almost arrest of a resident trying to give public comment before a vote to accept a massive $577,000.00 dollar no bid contract without public comment.  Whatever the reasons, two incumbent school board members were swept out of office last night and replaced, one of them by the guy they tried to intimidate when they called the police.
