GrokTALK! – Kasich Konservatism

After the last debate is has become as clear as ever that John Kasich is simply an ass, as in, a Donkey, in elephant clothing; a costume in which NH Senator Kelly Ayotte has found increasing comfort. The Grokster discuss Kasich, Ayotte, Guinta, and other unprincipled invertebrate Republicans forced on us or who sounded good … Read more

Rival campaigns starting to fear Ted Cruz

Politico has an article (H/T Fran Wendelboe for the link) suggesting that Ted Cruz has done the work and built a campaign that presents one of the better paths to the Republican nomination. There is banter a-plenty from the political class operatives who loathe the idea including our very own Fungus Cullen. “He’s the longer-term … Read more

More Reasons to Rebel Against NH Rebellion

We’ve not been shy about our opposition to the sort of campaign finance reform sought by the group NH Rebellion (which is dropping signs all over my neck of the woods). No matter what they think they are doing or how they are doing it, at the end of the day it favors incumbent protection … Read more

Mao’s Cultural Revolution: Ivy League Dartmouth style

Remember that word: submission.  Be it Islam or Progressivism, that is the desired outcome of you to it.  In my previous post, I wondered if this Safe Space / Freedom from Offense / PC Totalitarianism of only designated Speech was going to burn hot / flame out or spread like Ebola into a more general population and accomplish the age old goal of Socialist Democrats everywhere: first, the overthrow of the First Amendment and then rapidly, everything else in the Constitution that was created to both limit Government and keep it (supposedly) out of our day to day lives.  Sadly, a lot of that last bit has already been lost – is this now throwing gas onto that emerging Freedom conflagration?  If we look at Dartmouth, perhaps (emphasis mine):

My friend is texting me about a Black Lives Matter protest that happened at Dartmouth last night. Apparently it started as a standard march and chant across campus and devolved into black students screaming at individuals in the library and calling them out by name for not protesting. It’s finals period so the library is packed with people trying to study, and some of the protesters screamed at people they knew who were doing work and demanded to know why they weren’t protesting. One kid sang a song in the library (when the protest was still “peaceful”) and people clapped when he was done. Then a girl in the protest said “F*** you, white people. You can clap for us but you aren’t f***ing standing up here with us. F*** you.”

GrokTALK! – A Terrorist By Any Other Name…

We start the discussion with Terrorism in Paris and the French who have replaced the refugee turnstile with a locked down border. *Audio problems reported during the program were corrected post-production. Listen to the entire podcast here GrokTALK! is a Mobile-Ready Broadcast

Well then, why didn’t Paris have a “safe space”

The inanity of this crybabies-on-campus just keeps going, prattling on about non-existent “white Privilege” (a made up Political Correctness submission tool”), “violating safe spaces” (a made up Political Correctness submission tool”), “micro-aggressions” (a made up Political Correctness submission tool”),  “trigger warnings” (a made up Political Correctness submission tool), “college is supposed to be a healing space” (funny, … Read more

The Democrat debate was an embarrassment to voters, the country and the world

hillaryclintonblacklagoon

Last night CBS held the second Democrat debate between Presidential candidates for the 2016 election. Not only have the Democrats finally pulled off their faux ‘moderate’ masks, they have come out and honestly claimed what many have believed all along. Democrats are for increasing taxes to redistribute other people’s money; increasing welfare programs and taking law-abiding American citizens’ rights away.

Data Point – Muslim immigration to the US

And this morning on pretty much all of the talking head shows, Ben Rhodes (Obama’s national security advisor) has said that importing Syrians will continue apace and they will probably be enlarging those numbers even as the US has no way to properly vet those refugees to make sure they are really refugees.  From Conservative Review, a quick status of Muslim immigration into the US:

1.Numbers: We have admitted approximately 1.6 million immigrants from predominantly Muslim countries from 2001-2013, double the average rate prior to 9/11.

2.Recent Trend: Immigration from Muslim countries is the fastest growing segment of our annual admissions. The countries with the highest percentage increase since 2010 have all been predominantly Muslim countries. Saudi Arabia (up 93 percent); Bangladesh up 37 percent); Iraq (up 36 percent); Egypt (up 25 percent); Pakistan, India, and Ethiopia (all up 24 percent); Nigeria and Ghana (both up 21 percent).

And with them, a propensity for Shar’ia Law over any other system of laws, including our own.  So where is this heading?

I daresay we are more governed by Administrative Law than by Legislation

After all, our esteemed elected leaders are seemingly, more and more, are of the mind to pass such legislation that makes broad brushstrokes and “throws over the wall” the hard, detailed work to bureaucrats to actually make the law governable.  In other words, legislators (both in DC and in Concord) are failing to do their … Read more

A curious statement: “Our party represents the full spectrum of conservatism”

I don’t even know what that means – a full spectrum.  This is from a Union Leader piece on “GOP voters still seeking their conservative candidate” and quoted NH GOP Chair Horn:

Jennifer Horn, chairwoman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, said every Republican candidate is presenting a stronger vision for America than the Democrats in the race. She said the GOP candidates are conveying conservative messages and solutions.

“Our party represents the full spectrum of conservatism,” Horn said.

What DOES that mean?  What is a full spectrum?  Is this just another way to paraphrase Gene Chandler (former Speaker of the NH House and Establishment Republican) pronouncement that “Any person with an R after their name is a good Republican”.  Lately, the Party has been working hard to make the moral equivalence that being a Republican is automatically a conservative.  Sorry, you can’t skirt the issue that way for it is clear with ratings groups at the national and NH levels, it is CLEAR that many moderate Republicans are often “outvoted” in support of the Constitution and Party Platform by Democrats – so how does that play into being “conservative”?

Notable Quote – Bob Higgs

Despite constant claims to the contrary, governments do not really provide their subjects with genuine security. They provide only the illusion of security. This, unfortunately, is enough to satisfy most people, who are incapable of exercising appropriate skepticism about the government’s claims. –Bob Higgs And in Paris yesterday, we saw this in its full truth … Read more

Data Point – Obamacare wealth distribution

As I mentioned yesterday on GrokTALK!, we can now see the wealth flow, as Obama and Saul Alinsky put it, from the Haves to the Have-Nots (the actual purpose of Obamacare). Note the flows out of the next higher quintiles on a percentage basis.  As opposed to what we were told by Obama and the … Read more

“Deductibles are too damn high!”

Obamacare -Year of the SnakeYeah, politicians and their promises.  All we hear from the sycophants of Obama and Obamacare is that it is “affordable” for low income folks to buy an Obamacare insurance policy – and now we know that TANSTAFFL still applies because as Government artificially lowers that rate for the Have-Nots, the premium prices necessarily rise for everyone else. But those same sycophants will NEVER want to willingly talk about deductions.  Here is the  post from the NY Times, well, because they deserve it and finally having to admit (emphasis mine, reformatted):

Many Say High Deductibles Make Their Health Law Insurance All but Useless

I just LOVE saying this: we TOLD you so! The Laws of Economics can only be distorted for so long and in so many ways before they snap back on you like an oversized rubber band.  Unfortunately, it isn’t on the sycophants but by the folks that have to deal with it – herein the actual results of what Obama and the Democrats have wrought:

Blogline of the Day: Freedom – a redefinition

This is the line I paraphrased this morning on GrokTALK! – from Instapundit:

ANNA MUSSMAN: How Our New Definition Of Freedom Causes Cruelty: In the past, freedom meant to ability to obey one’s beliefs. Now, freedom is the ability to require others to obey one’s own beliefs about oneself.

And that encapsulates much of the essence of Political Correctness -submission (which is the meaning of Islam: “submission”). You gonna let the PCers continue to roll over you?  Several of the collegiate administrators that quit would still have their jobs if they had grown a pair and acted like BU’s former head honcho, John “the one armed bandit” Silber who was there as I was an undergrad and grad student:

Then they put up the shacks. I told the police, “Go ask them three questions: Do you have

Apparently, even grown men need a ‘safe space’

What for, you ask?  Well, according to a Clinton former staffer and creator of a new online forum called #Hillarymen, liberal dudes need a comfortable, safe spot for them to “openly support a female candidate” and “identify and fight back against sexism in the 2016 race.”

feminist

You read that right.
