On Tuesday, Max Sullivan from Seacoast Online reported that Carol Shea-Porter, a failed Democrat candidate for the 1^st Congressional District, believes government is the solution. Shea-Porter is the former 1^st Congressional District Representative who lost her seat in 2014 to Republican Representative Frank Guinta. One of the reasons Shea-Porter lost her seat was because of her vote for Obamacare.

Apparently Shea-Porter believes that government knows better than her constituents on how to take care of themselves. A majority of her constituents did not want Shea-Porter to vote for Obamacare yet she chose to vote for it regardless. She admitted on video that she voted with Obama 90% of the time and far left wing extremist Nancy Pelosi even more. It didn’t matter what the people she was representing wanted at all. Jeanie Forrester is promoting herself as having a 100% rating from New Hampshire Right to Life. In a past political life, that may have been true. But in the last session, State Senator Forrester did not take the 100% life position. NHRTL President Jane Cormier (a friend of mine and a contributor here at GraniteGrok) took to the pages of the Union Leader to question Forrester’s claims and to clarify the group’s 2016 endorsement in the New Hampshire Republican Primary for Governor.

To the Editor: Although ethics in the world of politics seems to be virtually extinct, the truth is still the truth. It is imperative New Hampshire have a true conservative in the corner office in 2017. New Hampshire Right to Life-PAC (NHRTL-PAC) has endorsed Rep. Frank Edelblut. Frank Edelblut is a true conservative who holds a stellar liberty voting record in our State House.

Another gubernatorial candidate, Jeanie Forrester, maintains on her campaign literature that she holds a 100 percent rating from NHRTL. This is categorically not true.

Minimum Wage Increase Puts 1,400 D.C. Restaurant Employees Out of Work

D.C. restaurants have lost 1,400 jobs in the first half of the year. This loss—the steepest drop since the 2001 recession—follows a significant minimum wage hike.

Data  suggests that the D.C. restaurant industry has been unable to absorb the higher cost of labor without reducing employment opportunities. Since mandating a base wage of $10.50 in July 2015 and another increase to $11.50 in July 2016, D.C. has seen employment in the restaurant industry trend downward, for a 3 percent job loss in 2016.

That’s interesting. If you raise the price of something beyond what the market will bear, demand falls.  Who knew?

It’s funny. The Left knows this. They use taxes to discourage behavior and things they don’t like, for example: cigarettes, coal, oil, fun etc.  They understand how this works; yet somehow, for some reason, they believe this truism doesn’t apply to the cost of labor.  What a weird blind spot.

Recently NH1 News reported that Frank Edelblut has released his first ad in the Republican primary gubernatorial race. Edelblut is currently a New Hampshire State Representative from Wilton.

Edelblut is one of four candidates running in the Republican primary. He is the only candidate who has been endorsed by the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance and the 603 Alliance. Edelblut has won several straw polls including the Windham Republican Debate and the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers straw poll.

How’s that higher minimum wage working out for jobs in DC?

The nation’s capital has been leading the way on the minimum wage front and the Fight for 15 crowd couldn’t be happier. Still, those not invested in the future of the unions and the Social Justice Warrior movement have questions which deserve answers. Just this week we looked at the effects of a $15 minimum wage on one small business owner in Ohio, but how about from the perspective of the workers? In DC there are a lot of food industry employers who hire plenty of lower wage workers, so that should prove to be a leading indicator when addressing the question. The District has already raised their minimum wage once recently and there’s more of the same on the way.

The American Enterprise Institute has run the numbers for us, and the initial results are not promising at all.

“Everything Trump promises comes with an expiration date,” said Cruz’s former Senate communications director, Amanda Carpenter. “We knew it during the primary, and now it is apparent he has duped his most loyal supporters on the issue they care about most, immigration. Don’t say we didn’t warn them.”

“It vindicates the speech, it vindicates what Ted Cruz warned would happen during the course of the campaign,” said Chris Wilson, the director of research, analytics and digital strategy on Cruz’s campaign and a top Cruz adviser who has always argued that the RNC speech would be remembered favorably. He went on to add, “I do think, yes, the immigration point is another data point that he was right, it’s another data point that leads people to understand Ted Cruz knew what he was talking about, he was making the right decision.”

While I am not a Trump supporter per se, I have stood up and clapped on a couple of items.  One was excoriating the Media for being biased to the point of being bigoted against Republican. They have decided that they cannot allow Trump to gain the office and it shows – they no longer report the news objectively but have become full-fledged members of the Democrat Party and acting like campaigners-with-bylines.

We on the Right have known this tendency for years but with this campaign, both the mask and any pretense to the contrary have been dropped.  And they wonder why their circulation rates and stock prices are plummeting still?
