By their own healthcare petard…heh!

Obamacare -Year of the SnakeYeah, it seems all of the Left that advocate strenuously  for Progressive / Socialist policies always seem to get highly annoyed and irritable when, unexPECTEDly, those same policies start to affect them personally.  Heavens, they start acting, well, Conservatively!  The unions poured hundreds of millions into support Obamacare’s enactment – only to ask for waivers from it when it got “personal”.  The SEIU’s “fight for $15” for a minimum wage?  Yeah, ask the unions (AHgain) about why they hem and haw about paying their workers that level of pay.  And US Senator “Fauxcahauntus” Elizabeth Warren has screamed about Wage Inequality only for us to find out that she pays her male staff far more than her female staff.

So this is really Karma being returned: Same Hollywood Writers Who Pushed Obamacare May Strike over Failing Health Plans

Hollywood screenwriters are on the verge of another strike, with health care benefits emerging as a major sticking point in contract negotiations – and in a somewhat ironic twist, the writers’ own efforts to promote the passage of Obamacare in 2009 may have contributed to the precarious predicament in which they find themselves today.

A dose of their own medicine, I say!

Whew – I thought I was already on the deep down slope!

JUST IN TIME!!!

When I turned 40, a large contingent of friends from church threw me the obligatory “you’re over the hill” birthday party.  Who knew they were twenty years too early (emphasis mine, reformatted)?

Middle age begins at 60, say researchers

It was not so very long ago that hitting the milestone birthday of 40 was the time to accept that middle age had arrived. No more. Researchers have suggested that mid-life begins at 60, just as most people are contemplating the joys of retirement and a free bus pass. Scientists say that with increased life expectancy we need to rethink our ideas of what constitutes middle and old age otherwise the proportion of elderly people will continue to grow.

Fallout Shelter signJust thought I’d leave this here:

20+ YEARS OF FECKLESS NORTH KOREA POLICY, AND NOW: North Korea tensions have Hawaii pols revisiting emergency attack plans. “The plans were last revisited in the 1980s. But the Hawaii House Public Safety Committee on Thursday formally called for the state’s defense agency to repair their hundreds of Cold War-era fallout shelters and restock them with medical supplies, food and water.”

And Obama had to go and say “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their

Blogline of the Day – Speaking Truth to Power about Sweden with snark

They live in a world defined by childlike assumptions of multiculturalism, but multiculturalism has worked for the West about as well as socialism worked for Venezuela. -Susan Stamper Brown (on Sweden’s societal suicide via mass immigration from incompatible cultures and the Leftist globalists that created it) Note: I almost used the line just before it … Read more

Data Point – Feds collect the most in income taxes EVAH!

“Through March, the federal government collected approximately $695,391,000,000 in individual income taxes. That is about $7,387,280,000 more than the $688,003,720,000 in individual income taxes (in constant 2017 dollars) that the federal government collected in the first six months of fiscal 2016.”

chart-income_taxes-through_march 2017

And we’re still running a yearly deficit of almost $527 BILLION.  Most of the Federal budget (which Progressives NEVER want to mention) is “mandatory” spending – taking money from some to give to others.  Sorry, but Entitlements are NOT “mandatory” – they were created by Law and they can be modified by another Law.

The reason why it never happens is that politicians value

Blogline of the Day – Actually, a confirmation of my earlier Blogline of the Day

We’re seeing the obviousness of Western Society cultural suicide – and the fears are being realized. The Deconstruction of the West: The greatest threat to the liberal international order comes not from Russia, China, or jihadist terror but from the self-induced deconstruction of Western culture. Reminder: SB 3 is Crap – Amend it or Scrap It

Sb3 is crapSenate Bill 3 claims to address the issue of domicile and residence for voting purposes in New Hampshire. It fails. The Senate passed it anyway, and despite its flaws, it is up for consideration in the House.

The single biggest problem is non-resident college students voting in local elections instead of voting absentee where the tuition bill goes. SB3 gives its blessing to this practice. SB 3 is crap.

The solution to SB3 and non-resident tuition-paying college students interfering in local elections is simple. Scrap SB3’s language about college kids and replace it with University of New Hampshire’s rules to qualify for in-state tuition.

A group led by New Hampshire fisherman David Goethel sued the government over the rule change. The fishermen lost in federal district court and appealed. US Senator Jeanne Shaheen – “Taxes should be simple”. That’s not what she means

Jeanne Shaheen Wicked WitchWell, US Senator Jeanne Shaheen is a prime example of why they aren’t – she has always loved every new or expanded revenue source created.  Yet, like the GREAT Progressive politician she is (and I’m not using GREAT as a nice superlative).

I’m on her mailing list and got the below.  Now, UNLIKE an engineer that wants to fix things at the root cause, she wants to fix a whole kludge by piling on yet another.  It is as if she is doing a very complex math problem – and applies the wrong sign to it.  Yet, she wants us to believe that this is the best thing since, well, calculus, in that Shaheen wants Govt to fix the problem Govt created.

Or make it look like its getting solved.  In honor of Tax Day (tomorrow), I present the brilliance of Shaheenism (reformatted, emphasis mine:

Millions of Americans will be spending the weekend preparing their taxes to meet the federal tax filing deadline, which is next Tuesday, April 18th. Tax filing can be a complicated, expensive process. Americans spend more than 6 billion hours every year preparing their taxes, and almost 60 percent use paid tax preparers to file. Filing your taxes should be much simpler. That’s why I recently introduced legislation to simplify the federal tax return process.

And why IS that, Jeanne?  Why do you, as the Ambassador from the Federal Govt to the State of NH, make it so hard?  After all, it IS people like you who create tax law – that’s why you are a Legislator (and we aren’t).  We have to pay the penalty (double meaning here) for what you and your cohort have wrought.  But get a load of what SHE thinks is a “fix”:

Trump’s Bargain

Barack Obama released $1.7 Billion in cash to Iran. Billions more may have been delivered to the terror state under his watch. President Trump spent $59 million on the cruise missiles delivered to Syria and $170,000.00 for one MOAB delivered to ISIS. /heh.

Governor Sununu Signs Parental Rights Measure

Chris sununu

Gov. Sununu signed HB103 today, a bill that allows parents to review and opt-out of sex-ed curriculum. More specifically, it is AN ACT relative to school district policies regarding objectionable course material.

IX-c. Require school districts to adopt a policy allowing an exception to specific course material based on a parent’s or legal guardian’s determination that the material is objectionable. Such policy shall include a provision requiring the parent or legal guardian to notify the school principal or designee in writing of the specific material to which they object and a provision requiring an alternative agreed upon by the school district and the parent, at the parent’s expense, sufficient to enable the child to meet state requirements for education in the particular subject area. The policy shall also require the school district or classroom teacher to provide parents and legal guardians not less than 2 weeks advance notice of curriculum course material used for instruction of human sexuality or human sexual education.

But Trump is only doing what George Washington did? Do Progressives hate the Father of our country?

George Washington on arms and own govtBut of COURSE they do – down with the Patriarchy!  Besides, George “I can never tell a lie” Washington was nothing but an old white guy who owned slaves – we should wipe his name from every building, burn any book that holds him up as a shining example, and eliminate him because of his oppressive ways!

Naw, only kidding, but that’s what the Progressive Precious Snowflakes (and no small number of their Marxist agitating Professors want them to internalize – send your kid to Hillsdale College).  But for George, something I did not know:

George Washington was the first president to stay in the real estate business. “By the 1790s, Washington was wealthy primarily because of real estate — renting and selling his vast holdings. As with Mr. Trump’s hotels, Washington’s renters or purchasers could include foreigners. The president received constant reports from his nephew and subsequent managers and wrote to them at least monthly… This belies the notion that the Constitution limits a president’s management of, or benefit from, his existing business ventures.”

Blogline of the Day – The Senate was right to do so

The Senate’s role is to advise and consent. Their advice to Obama on the Garland nomination was “take a flying leap, Mr. President,” which was completely within their prerogative. Churches, Small Towns, Going “Sanctuary” in New Hampshire

Did you know that, Three small Granite State towns — Harrisville, Dublin, and Lyme — voted at town meetings last month to declare themselves as “sanctuary towns.” However, bigger areas like Durham, home to the University of New Hampshire, and Portsmouth failed to pass similar measures. Students at Dartmouth College in Hanover passed around a … Read more

The Concord Monitor Reminds US What Taxation Means To Progressives

Concord_Monitor_logoThe Progressive view care of the Concord Monitor.

The state still doesn’t know the full impact of a recent cut in business tax rates, but the Legislature is already considering another reduction. A Republican-backed Senate bill would further lower the business profits and enterprise taxes in 2020, resulting in an estimated loss of $81 million in revenue.

The conservative view is that Republicans propose letting New Hampshire Businesses keep an additional $81 million they earned, that the state is opting not to plunder those earnings. So why not say, state lawmakers propose giving $81 million back to New Hampshire’s business owners? Flavor it with some “hard working families” or “engines of the economy.” Look, free stimulus!

Notable Quote – Marcus Tulius Cicero

Why is it the Left (and Progressive Republicans) HATE Free Speech?

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Ann_RavelThe Left is not even trying to hide their scorn for the ideal of Free Speech – they see the Constitution as something only to be used to when it furthers their agenda otherwise it’s that cock-eyed view that it must be thrown out because:

  • It’s too old
  • It was written by old white slave owners
  • It oppresses us from taking stuff from you so that we can give our Socialist Utopia (“Peace be upon Karl Marx!”) which requires that you obey us.

So that means not only our regular everyday speech (why do you think that Cultural Marxism / Political Correctness exists? Answer: to create the illiberal idea that there is Hate Speech (which the First PROTECTS!!!) to control and limit dissent) but our Political Speech as well.  Why else do they continue to harp on the Citizens United SCOTUS decision?  Why are they already fearing any tax reform that would unmuzzle church pulpits undo the [LBJ] Johnson Amendment?

And even though she got shot down when she was on the Federal Election Commission, Ann Ravel (D) believes, contra the First Amendment, it is up to the Government to regulate our political speech (yeah, I know – why have we acted like sheep and allowed them to get away with this??):

Will Progressives hold themselves accountable for the results of their wage policies?

Pfft – silly question, folks!  Just ask Timothy Horrigan (more on him in another post) – HECK no.  Never do.  Not just in wage policies but ANY policy that comes up.  Like HeadStart – billions have been spent on it and even HHS’s own study of HeadStart showed it was a loser – unless it was to employ more unionized Democrat teachers and provide free daycare.

So, will uber-Progressive / Democrat Gov. Cuomo (and the Progressive pack in the NY legislature that approved this nonsense) stand up, wave their hands and go “Yes, we did it and we screwed up” over their latest minimum wage fiasco-now-in-making?

SHOT: Put the issue in place…

Another Environmental Redistribution Scam?

stream restorationShould an article titled “Revenue Stream: How An Environmental Law Creates Jobs In Coal Country” set off red flags? It’s about how thanks to environmental regulations jobs are being created in coal country and employing former miners.

More red flags.

I haven’t had time to dig into the financials or to follow the money but its big business. Equity firms buy up tens of thousands of acres and “hire” eco-restoration companies to fix broken streams that bring “natural” water ecologies back into these areas. The work builds credits in mitigation banks which can be purchased by developers to offset damage to streams or wetlands caused by development.
