Trump won the Presidency because of stupidity like this. 79% of adults polled agree that boys/men should not play on girls/women sports teams in K-12. But the Minnesota State High School League has told its schools that it and they must obey based on Minnesota law:
“In Minnesota, participation and eligibility of transgender student-athletes is determined by state law, through the Minnesota Human Rights Act and the Minnesota Constitution. The Minnesota State High School League, similar to other youth sports organizations, is subject to state anti-discrimination laws, which prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. Therefore, students in Minnesota are allowed to participate consistent with their gender identity. League Member Schools have done excellent work in respecting students and their individual situations as they determine their participation and eligibility within interscholastic sports.
“The League will continue to review the existing state laws alongside the new Presidential Executive Order and its timeline, processes for states, and requirements that are included.”
They’re trying to have it both ways. ANY Presidential Executive Order can only control what goes on in the Executive Branch and is just a piece of paper and ink anywhere else. If MN law says they can play, they can play.
And Federal Government agencies don’t have to send them a dime.
So which will play out best for the school – the MSHSL advice or the funding they would have received from the Feds? Seems like quite the dilemma to be stuck on.
My school district, SAU 71 – Gilford, is going to face the same thing after I rat them out. At last week’s School Board meeting, even after I testified that they will lose funding on this same point, the Superintendent Kirk Beitler urged the School Board to allow the High School Principle Anthony Sperazzo to create a new student club called ” Prism” that is to be an LGBT/straight “safe space”.
