Cindy Young walked into the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021. “After entering, Young traveled through varying areas of the Capitol. Young came into possession of a Trump 2020 and an American flag,” according to court documents, Boston 25 News reported.”
The prosecution in Cindy Young’s January 6th trial that concluded in August has responded to a motion filed on her behalf by attorney Jonathan Gross. Ms. Young through her defense counsel had asked for permission for her to travel to Washington DC to support President-Elect Donald Trump during his inauguration. The prosections response to the requested modification of post-sentencing release stated that Ms. Young, a 67-year-old grandmother, was convicted of 4 nonviolent misdemeanors, which are dubious in and of themselves.
Young was sentenced to four months’ incarceration and 12 months of supervised release on November 24, 2024. her “presence at an event staffed by law enforcement would not only present danger but would cause further victimization for the officers who Young has publicly mocked.”
Mocking is not just a constitutional right. It is an obligation. Mocking the police is, too. You can even claim they lie on your license plate. It’s protected speech, and making others uncomfortable is not an enforceable offense. Cops make a lot of people uncomfortable, but that does not prohibit them from doing so or being reprimanded or otherwise prohibited from related activities.
I guess the Biden administration wants to go out the door looking like the craven brats they are.
I don’t think I know Cindy or the status of her incarceration or supervised release, but if someone can work it out, she is welcome to buy tickets and attend the 603 Alliance Inaugural Celebration in Manchester on January 20th – assuming they’ll let her.
