One of the foundations of progressive politics is putting government first. Build it, fund it, defend it. The corollary, well known worldwide, is that sooner or later, you run out of other people’s money, to which I’ll add, but that doesn’t stop the “beatings.”
They always try to feed the politicians and bureaucrats first to keep the machine that runs everyone else well-oiled. Everyone else is on their own, including their union buddies in the FD and PD.
There is never enough government, and running out of money is a feature, not a bug (idioms, metaphors, …). All those essential programs or services they promise you the Republicans will take away if you elected them; that’s a projection. The Dems system ensures those services will get cut because there can never be enough money.
Uniparty Republicans are eager to help at the national level, but let’s focus on the Democrat destruction of cities. It’s one of the few things they are good at and something we can guarantee, given enough time. No hyperbole is needed. You can look for yourselves, but we’re not recommending it. You’ll get mugged, killed, or have your car stolen (maybe all of that), burdens to which we can now add this. Biden’s orchestrated invasion has made all of that worse, and the burden has begun to whittle away at essential services.
Democratic Denver Mayor Mike Johnston announced the cuts on Wednesday, celebrating the move as a way to avoid “the worst-case budget cut scenarios.” The “Newcomer Program Strategy” is a nearly $90 million budget plan that funds aid and sheltering for illegal immigrants through the rest of 2024, Fox 31 reported. To pay for the illegal immigrant plan, the Democrat-run city will cut police spending by $8.4 million and fire department spending by $2.5 million, while the Sheriff’s Department will be hit with a 2.2% reduction.
We’re cutting public safety, and we’re excited about this transition from protecting you to protecting people who are technically felons.
“After more than a year of facing this crisis together, Denver finally has a sustainable plan for treating our newcomers with dignity while avoiding the worst cuts to city services,” Johnston said. “So many times we were told that we couldn’t be compassionate while still being fiscally responsible. Today is proof that our hardest challenges are still solvable, and that together we are the ones who will solve them.”
I hate to sound like a broken record (no, I don’t), but you could save 10 million by sending them all home. Someone should suggest that. And not just in Denver. Massachusetts, the sanctuary across my State’s southern border, has a similar problem (like New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and the rest). And it’s an amusing matter, at least to me. For all the pissing and moaning about being overwhelmed when it was Governor Abbot and DeSantis bussing or flying “migrants” to Democrat sanctuary cities, Biden’s been doing it, and they’re all, let’s come together and help these new arrivals.
Hang on to that sentiment. You might have to come together to help put out fires.
