“Diversity is our strength,” right? I am sure that most of the NHGOP would answer: YES! … OF COURSE! … HOW COULD YOU QUESTION MY COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY! … blah, blah, blah. Especially the Sununicans … some of whom literally wept with joy when His Wokeness established a diversity-commission during his first term as Governor:
I am equally sure that if you asked the NHGOP supporters of diversity: WHY?, WHY IS DIVERSITY OUR STRENGTH?, you would get a circular answer such as: BECAUSE DIVERSITY MAKES US STRONGER.
And I am sure that these same people would also tell you that they oppose CRT, and if you asked, WHY?, the best you could expect would be something along the lines of: BECAUSE CRT IS DIVISIVE.
To cut to the chase, I am sure that most of the NHGOP believe that DIVERSITY and CRT are different concepts, that one is good and the other is bad. WRONG … diversity and CRT are NOT different at all.
Diversity, of course, is shorthand for DEI: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Let’s examine what that means in practice.
INCLUSION means taking affirmative measures to ensure that our institutions … both government institutions and non-government … contain the right mix and proportion of supposedly disfavored groups. We used to call this quotas, but now we call it inclusion.
These affirmative measures are necessary … the theory goes … because America has always been, remains and will always be “systemically” racist, homophobic, sexist, etc., etc., etc.. In other words, being colorblind, or filling positions based on merit is actually racist, homophobic, sexist, etc., etc., etc., because America has always been, remains and will always be rigged against everyone except straight, white males.
To say that America is systemically racist, homophobic, sexist, etc., etc., etc. is the same thing as saying that certain Americans, i.e. those “straight white males” who supposedly control the systems are racist, homophobic, sexist, etc., etc., etc.. For example, do you recall Pete Buttigieg … our incompetent Secretary of Transportation, whose only job qualification was his sexual orientation … saying that the nation’s roads were racist? He did not mean that asphalt is racist. He meant that the individuals who designed the roads … the straight, white males … were racists and designed roads to segregate races.
How is this any different from the theory of CRT that whites are inherently oppressors? It obviously is NOT. It is the same toxic brew, just bottled under a different label.
EQUITY is the antithesis of equal treatment. Equity is UNEQUAL TREATMENT in order to reach equal outcomes.
Equity sounds much more benign than cultural-marxism, but that is exactly what it is.
A recent well-publicized manifestation of equity is certain school districts in the Democrat part of Virginia withholding academic awards from students:

So how is pursuing EQUITY any different from “unpacking white privilege”or “male privilege” or “straight privilege” or “cis privilege”? There obviously is NO DIFFERENCE. It is the same toxic brew, just bottled under a different label.
Bottom line: If someone tells you that he supports diversity, but not CRT, or that diversity is good but CRT is bad … that person either does not know what he is talking about or is gaslighting you. DEI and CRT are sides of the same race-based, cultural-marxist coin.
