J16? – Colbert Staffers Arrested in Congressional Office Buildings After Hours [Update]

The J6 protesters are accused of insurrection (as reported in the media) for what amounts to trespassing – the thing they are being charged with (not reported in the press). So can we expect similar treatment for a handful of staffers who work for Stephen Colbert?

“Fox confirms that group of persons associated with The Late Show Stephen Colbert were arrested last night and charged with illegal entry to House office buildings after hours.”

We know that many of the J6 folks claim the Capitol Police held the doors for them so they could “illegally” enter a public building. Did Colbert’s staffers get the same courtesy?

… The group was in the Cannon House Office Building earlier in the day trying to get interviews around the time of the 1/6 committee hearing.

3) However, USCP shooed them away because they did not have proper press credentials.

4) However, the group surfaced later that night after the Capitol complex was closed to the public Fox is told they took pictures and video around the offices of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO).

5) They were unescorted and arrested and charged with illegal entry. They were arrested near Boebert’s office. They were released overnight.

Released? No indefinite detention without hope of release? That seems unfair. It must be that liberal privilege again. You know, the one that ignores the numerous incursions by leftwing “protesters” into the US Capitol and other government buildings.

Don’t expect extensive coverage, hearings, Made for TV “movies,” or inquisition-style interrogations about what Colbert or his producers know or when they knew it.

 Update:

“Fox News’s Jesse Watters reported that the Colbert staffers were let into the House office building by Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Jake Auchincloss (D-MA).”

There have been calls for Schiff to resign from his post on the January 6 Committee over this breach of security. In addition, many want to see Colbert’s staffers arrested and charged with the same crimes as those who entered the Capitol on January 6.

Let’s see how that works out.
