DEADLINE this Wednesday: Become an Election Inspector

by
Op-Ed

New Hampshire state law provides for a position called “Inspector of the Election.” We need 963 people throughout the state who are willing to take on this role.  The deadline is this coming Wednesday, June 15th, so if you think you might be interested, please read further and act now.

Election Inspectors are election officials with far greater powers than a poll watcher.  They are functioning ballot clerks charged with distributing ballots to voters. They also can be present and verify the count of unused ballots at the start of the election day. The inspector likewise can be present and verify the count of cast ballots at the close of the election, among other duties.

The New Hampshire Democrat Party has appointed election inspectors for years. In 2022, the NH Republican Party plans to do so as well.  By law, appointment to this position is done by the state GOP.

All that is required to qualify to become an election inspector is to be a registered voter in the polling place (town or ward) where you intend to serve. Training and legal support will be provided.

This position requires a time commitment, but it’s important that we have like-minded people at our polling places to fight for election integrity. The time to act is now, as election inspectors must be appointed by July 15.

Please contact Joseph Gagnon at jgagnon@gop.com or 603-421-4183 to learn more about becoming an election inspector in New Hampshire.
