How Governor Sununu Could Be Contributing to Children Committing Suicide

I don’t believe Governor Sununu wants any child to be harmed, but he might be contributing to the possibility of a child committing suicide based on his refusal to sign the Parental Rights Legislation (HB1431).

We already have evidence of a lawsuit from a father in Florida charging his local school for offering his daughter “gender” counseling without his knowledge or consent. The horrific part of this is, his daughter tried to commit suicide TWICE thanks to school officials hiding information from parents.

Am I surprised by what happened in Florida? Absolutely not. I’ve been a strong voice against turning our schools into mental health facilities. As you can see from this example, they do a lousy job. Not only do they do a lousy job, they can be a danger to your child.

According to this report:

A Florida father said Thursday his daughter attempted suicide twice after her school encouraged others to call her a boy and gave her a new name, while not notifying the parents about meetings discussing her gender identity.

A similar incident happened in the Manchester New Hampshire schools recently. This resulted in a parent suing the Manchester School District for hiding information about their child who was using the opposite gender name in school. Manchester was following the model policy developed by The New Hampshire School Boards Association (NHSBA) that included a provision on hiding this information from parents. The policy is JBAB, and has been adopted in many schools throughout New Hampshire.

Essentially the NHSBA promoted a policy that included a provision for school teachers and officials to lie to parents about their children. After years of standing by this policy, the NHSBA recently quietly removed their support for policy JBAB. Maybe because it’s come under fire from parents, and is now the reason for lawsuits in three school districts.

The Parental Rights (HB1431) proposed legislation would require schools to report information to parents under certain circumstances:

The right [of parents] to be notified promptly when any school board, school district, school administrative unit, school administrator, or other school employee initiates, investigates, or finds the need for any action by school authorities relating to the student pursuant to school policies governing student conduct, truancy, dress code violations, sexual harassment, bullying, hazing, behavior management and intervention, substance use, suicide prevention, gender expression or identity, disability accommodation, and special meal prescription.”

Here is the final version agreed to by the Senate and House.

Parents would be notified if someone within the school initiates, investigates or finds the need for any action by school authorities relating to the student pursuant to school policies governing ……gender expression or identity. This appears to be the hurdle that Governor Sununu can’t seem to jump over. They’d rather school officials, who are not educated or clinically trained to deal with this issue, hide information from parents.  Now we know how dangerous that can be to a child.

As you can see from the case in Florida, the uneducated and trained school officials now think they can help children transition their gender, and offer them some kind of counseling. One might think, but this is malpractice!!!  Well, you wouldn’t be alone in your thoughts.

These people are not educated, nor do they have any clinical training in the field of child psychology, and as we can see from the example in Florida, these school officials became a serious danger to this child.

Governor Sununu seems ok with school officials having this information on children but not parents. That is a deliberate attempt to put the State between the child and parent. At the minimum, parents deserve some kind of due process before you replace the parents with the State.

The parent in Manchester was in a similar situation. You can read the court case yourself. I would certainly categorize this situation as one that could have escalated to a point where this child could have been put in an equally dangerous situation. Fortunately, the parent stumbled upon the information about their child, and has since found educated and professionally trained experts to help their child.

That’s what loving and caring parents do, they pick up the mess that some of these school personnel have created.

In the case in Florida, the father did not learn about what was going on in the school with his daughter until she tried to commit suicide for the SECOND TIME. The teachers didn’t trust this information with the Catholic parents, but as we can see now, school personnel were the ones who put this child in danger.

Is this what Governor Sununu wants for our children? I don’t believe so, but will it take some outrageous act like this to wake him up?

Manchester dodged a bullet, and it could have been much worse. This parent told me directly that no matter what, they would love that child unconditionally. However, in this case, there were other mental health issues that needed to be addressed. School officials, by hiding information from parents, didn’t allow the parents to know the details. By not knowing the details, they were not able to help their child early on. Manchester put this child in danger based on the model policy put forth by the NHSBA.

So the argument goes, should school officials “out” transgender children? Well I didn’t realize that public schools were supposed to be an organization that hid information from parents. Since when did this happen? How about kids who bomb a test, should the school hide that information too?

If a parent is a danger to a child, that needs to be handled by the court system. There is no due process if you believe that all parents are bad and a danger to their child. But that’s exactly what Governor Sununu and opponents of this legislation are saying. They are saying sensitive information should be hidden from parents.

If teachers receive due process, there is no reason to deny that to parents. Parents are not guilty until proven innocent.

Why is Governor Sununu declaring war on good parents? The people spoke, and there is no good reason to veto this legislation.

Call the Governor NOW and ask him to SIGN HB1431! Support parental rights in New Hampshire.
