For several years and just over 150 episodes, Skip, Mike, and myself, or some combination of us, would trek to 8 North Main St. in Concord to do a podcast. In the years since, we’ve been looking for ways to overcome hurdles that prevented a reboot.
Time, distance, other obligations, and the fact that it had turned into an unpaid full-time job for me were cause for demise. Barriers to the reboot were all quality-related. Nothing existed that made the experience cohesive and free form without us commuting to another central location every week.
We will be spending a little money on this, but we believe we’ve found our solution.
Skip, Mike, and I will be testing this remote solution tonight. If all goes well, we will buy in completely and begin doing one hour every week (the original GrokTALK! was longer).
We’ll have local and national guests, bloggers, authors, politicians, media people, and activists, much like the previous iteration (which was actually a reboot of an earlier version).
I have not decided on a name for the reboot. It used to be GrokTALK! but I now see that as more of an umbrella for podcasting published here. GTRN – The GrokTALK! Radio Network. A hub for conservation podcasts. That’s the longer-term vision.
I’ll come up with something, but feel free to make suggestions.
In the meantime, if all goes well, we’ll be back at it weekly for your entertainment, education, and amusement. Triggering leftists at every opportunity.
To help offset these new costs, we’re hoping to add a few more subscribers to GraniteGrok.com. One-time donations are also great, but subscribers give us a better sense of what’s coming in to cover operating costs several months out.
If you’d like to wait until we’ve actually presented something for you to consider beforehand, you know – published a few episodes, that’s fine. We don’t want anyone suffering buyer’s remorse. But we hope you’ll pitch in and help us make this work.
We can even have willing supporters on the program now and again if they are interested.
And thanks to all our current subscribers. Since we’ve moved to a larger digital footprint, your support has helped offset increased operating costs. We literally could not do this without you.
