First Malicious and now Incompetence – Dartmouth Shut Down the College Republicans. NH GOP Almost Did it to Tonite’s Event.

Steve gave the heads up earlier this morning:

[Update!] There has been a last-minute change to the off-campus venue for this event. Tuckerbox Restaurant, 1 S. Main Street, White River Junction, VT 05001, 7:30 p.m., 2/10/2022. GraniteGrok still intends to live stream (bandwidth permitting).

And I added more:

IMPORTANT – as Steve said – the location has changed and it is outlined in red below.  And because I just fell on black ice taking out the Grandson to the school bus, it’s unclear if I will make it up to White River Junction to do the livestreaming (fell REALLY hard on my left elbow). Fortunately, I had a previously scheduled doc appt at 10am today and I’ll have him look at it.  All I know right now is that it is painful to even type.

And it is ALL because the NH GOP is incompetent.  Here’s the back story!

The NH GOP got the “job” of obtaining a venue for the off-campus Dr. James Lindsay event.  Nice, given that there is no trust between this small Conservative group on a very liberal college campus where the Admin hates them.

Except they ROYALLY screwed up.  It was Maya Harvey, the NH GOP Press Secretary that caused the venue change.  How do I know that?

I called the White River Junction, VT, VFW to ask some simple tech questions as I had offered to Livestream the event, most importantly, “can I get wired Interest access?”

The answer I got was short, curt, and to the point:

There is no event tomorrow night.

Well, I was rather stunned by that and the lady at the other end of the phone, I guess, sensed that by my silence, added:

She never called back to confirm. A group of combat vets now has that time.

No name was given for the “She.” I immediately emailed and called Chloe Ezzo, VP of the Dartmouth College Republicans and President of the Dartmouth chapter of Turning Point USA, to let her know as she hadn’t been able to ask the questions for me:

Hi Skip,

This is the phone number for the VFW: (802) 295-9745

I just tried to call them, but no one picked up. Yesterday I called right before 3pm, and the lady said that Rhonda, who is the person in charge of planning events was gone for the day, so I’d call again in 30 minutes to an hour.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

— Chloe

and my notification

Er, you folks have a big problem.

I just called, introduced myself and the reason why I was calling (tech questions).  She said that since “you”  (either you or Maya – she didn’t mention a name) hadn’t called back to confirm, there is no event.  Now, a group of combat vets has the hall.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I was guessing on “Maya” (as in Maya Harvey, Press Secretary) at that time – didn’t think that Maddie Cammarano, the NH GOP Finance Director would have been involved in this.

Poor Chloe – caught in the middle:

Skip,
They made a mistake. I just called Maya, and she said the venue was confirmed. I know that there is an event right after ours at 8pm. Maybe they were thinking it was that.
I am going to call them to figure out what’s going on.

And finally:

Skip,

You’re right, NH GOP messed up big time. Check out the mass email I just sent out. Thank you for figuring this out for us. We avoided a disaster. The event is next door and one hour later.
So, is this all on Maya?  Perhaps, perhaps not.  Remember, Elliot Gould, former NH GOP Exec Director and then Sununu staffer, is now has returned to that former title.  The buck stops at the top and operationally, that’s him.
It really doesn’t matter WHO, however – the NH GOP messed up big time.  I agree with that.
Besides, before I went into the doc’s, I got a call concerning the Carroll County Republicans.  And Elliot (and Steve Stepanek ) may well be involved in yet another fiasco.
