“It’s a historic night, yes it is, but I didn’t run to make history, I just wanted to leave it better than I found it.”

Virginia Dems had a rough night. They lost the Governors’ office, Lt Governor, the AG’s office, and the lower chamber of the legislature. And while all the chatter has been about Glenn Youngkin, the new Lt Governor is something to behold.

Winsome Sears “is a Marine veteran and came to this country as a child from Jamaica.”

She’s been the director of a Salvation Army homeless shelter prior to entering politics plus she also owns an appliance and plumbing repair store.

And she’s a Republican. I’m sure that gave (gives) the Dems a lot of cross-cultural heartburn. A Jamaican immigrant who served in the US military ran a homeless shelter, served on the State schoolboard, and in the Virginia House of Delegates. A Republican woman of color.

I’m sure they called her all the usual names, but that just makes them look like petty, ignorant hypocrites. And that’s what they are, those Democrats.

Lt Governor Sears gave a speech last night from which I pulled the headline to this piece. I think it’s great stuff.

“It’s a historic night, yes it is, but I didn’t run to make history. I just wanted to leave it better than I found it.”

Here’s to hoping she’s successful.

Here’s the speech.
