Politicians like to use massive dumpster bills to reward supporters. Democrats are just better at it. The Obama bailout was loaded with giveaways, but the latest effort includes something new. Taxpayer handouts to members of the media.
Hidden inside thousands of pages is a little ole’ tax credit “equal to 50% of the salary of each journalist—up to $50,000 per journalist annually.”
In other words, taxpayers, most of whom don’t trust the media, would be backstopping their salaries up to 50,000.00 a year. That’s just below the average annual salary of the average working American.
Democrats are instituting a permanent taxpayer bailout of “journalists,” most of whom can’t stand them.

Adam Guillette, writing at the Daily Signal, notes that,
“Saving” the media would destroy the media. How could we ever trust journalists to accurately cover the elected officials who voted against their funding? How can you “speak truth to power” when you’re also pleading with that power for cash? Which news outlets would get the funding, and which would be snubbed?
Any pretense of objectivity would be destroyed once the media is on the federal payroll.
The Democrats have every reason to bail out their struggling water carriers, but this is nothing short of bold. A living wage “gimme” in perpetuity that not only pays journalists who already do their bidding (and encourages more of that), it takes half the cost of the total payroll off their employer’s books every year.
Operations that should fail because no one read their “reporting” will not just live to lie another day. It will inform the people in whatever manner will keep the trough open to them.
The Democrats Massive Spending package in DC was terrible already. Now it promotes their stenographers to paid lobbyists without any of the limitations placed upon lobbyists.
It was intolerable when they did it and had to earn their way, but now we’ll be paying them to do that?
