Nashua Public Schools Breaks State Law Regarding Non-Academic Surveys

According to state law: “non-academic survey or questionnaire” means surveys, questionnaires, or other documents designed to elicit information about a student’s social behavior, family life, religion, politics, sexual orientation, sexual activity, drug use, or any other information not related to a student’s academics.”

Non-academic surveys are being given out to Nashua students in violation of Nashua Board of Education policy, ILD, Non-Educational Questionnaires, Surveys and Research and state law, RSA 186:11, IX-d, Non-Academic Surveys, and Questionnaires.

Parents were given an opportunity to provide consent, but teachers are sending out these non-academic surveys to all students — including minors without parental consent.

Why do schools need to categorize and divide students into categories?

Is this data collected and sold to political research organizations?
