Pete Buttigieg – political wonderboy. Failed Mayor of a population 100K town. A failed candidate for President. A failed attempt at being a Combat vet. Now HE’S telling us we’re failing HIM?
Americans are spending too much of their money on transportation in the wrong ways, or don’t have access to it at all. And the American people are making it clear to all of us, regardless of party, that they want us to get it done, and they are not asking us to tinker around the edges. We have risen to this challenge before as a country. In fact, building bold infrastructure has always been central to America’s story. We built the Erie Canal, we connected east to west through the Transcontinental Railroad, and we developed the interstate highway system. And each of those was audacious, was transformative, and partly because it challenged the American people to expand our concept of infrastructure. But in doing so, these projects transformed our nation for the better.
Well, isn’t THAT just condescending as all get out? Sorry, Sir “I-know-more-than-you,” that we American citizens decided to fail our bettors once again (which is why they’re looking to change the electorate via open borders and HR 1 – we SO disappoint the Left!
And right now, the biggest dealio for the Biden Administration is one and only one thing as Randall O’Toole, the AntiPlanner, makes quite clear:
Reinventing the Jet Airliner
Suppose I told you that I have reinvented the jet airliners that carried Americans more than 750 billion passenger miles–about 10 percent of all passenger travel–in 2019. My reinvented jet will go less than half as fast as existing jets. It will cost six times as much to operate, per passenger mile, as existing jets. Unlike existing jets, which can go anywhere there is air, the reinvented jet will only be able to go on a limited number of fixed routes.
Yep, choo-choo trains. Like Amtrak Like Lloyd over at Treehugger, these people like Buttigieg hate the ability of the American people to simply hop into their cars at any time of any day or night and to to where we want to go – be it to work, school, shopping, or even worse – just out for a joy ride (used to be called “cruising” if you are of that age – just up and down the same street/block to just have fun). Hey, the Europeans have them, Japan has them, CHINA! has them! Why can’t we all be like them? Hey, they all live in “walkable cities” too – why can’t we all be like them???
Look, I’ve had it with “good intention” guys that have the heart of totalitarians. I’m tired of these folks that believe we don’t even rise to the level of chess pieces – we just round checkers on their boards. We are to be nudged (like Cass Sustein said), cajoled (“here, take the Jab, get a free coffee”), or forced (“not wearing your seat belt? Here’s your ticket!”). In all cases, they treat us like idiots that can’t take care of ourselves.
Freedom? SUCH an overrated thing – we demand that you are SAFE! Safe from accidents, safe from doing the wrong things, safe from stuff you don’t even know about (but we do – just TRUST us!).
Yeah, like whatshisname kept yammering about BECAUSE he believes we can’t do it without the Hand of Government: “Public Health trumps EVERYTHING!”.
Yeah, that one. Now Alfred E. Neumann is trying the same thing. How about trying a REAL job, one that doesn’t have a government signature on the front, before telling us what you really think of us.
I do wonder how many UnReinvented Airliners he’s been riding on lately….what’s his carbon footprint like since that stupid attempt of showing how much he cares about the environment with his greenwashing.
What a tool….
