Is This 60-Minutes Report on Transgenders a HUGE Problem for New Hampshire?

CBS wrecked the industry when it discovered you could make money from the news (60-Minutes). The evolution of infotainment had begun and I am hard-pressed to take anything they do seriously—even this.

But I have to admit; it took some B*lls for anyone in Lib Media to do it.

On Sunday, CBS News’ “60 Minutes” ran a segment about transgender issues facing today’s young people in America, which featured, in part, transgender individuals who decided to reverse course after taking hormones and undergoing surgery.

It’s this thing called balanced reporting. So-called journalists look at a subject and provide more than one side, ideally one that challenges the approved narrative.

In this case, it is transition drugs and surgery where “doctors” might be getting rich at the expense of patients. Just like early Obama-Care advocates swore was happening as justification for a government takeover of healthcare through insurance. Except this real-world example dares to suggest that sometimes Gender is not fluid.

So, how is that a problem for New Hampshire? Well, we have a law that bans conversion therapy but in the process contradicts its so-called mission.

If the idea was to make sure people who wanted to transition were not bullied or abused out of it. our process has created an environment where there was literally no path but transition which is no different. You are bullying professionals into not making suggestions that would actually be in the best interest of the patient.

Maybe 60-Minutes can help us explain.

Lesley Stahl: Did the therapist not question you about how deep the feeling was and what it was stemming from?

Grace Lidinsky-Smith: She didn’t go — really go into what my gender dysphoria might’ve been stemming from. We only did a few sessions.

The guest being interviewed was a young woman, Grace Lidinsky-Smith, who was having some mental health issues centered on her sexuality. The therapist didn’t pursue it in any meaningful way. They just rubberstamped that feeling of the moment, and it was the wrong diagnosis.

Grace got a prescription for hormone treatment – which probably made her feel stranger, and then she had some irreversible surgery, but that made her feel stranger. In less than a year, she transitioned back but could never undo some of what she’d done, like the surgery.

If the therapist had tried or been able to explore her feelings, Grace might have found she never wanted to transition. That something else was the source, and they could have talked it out or tried other paths.

Not in New Hampshire. It is illegal to take any path with a patient that does not lean toward transition.

60-Minutes is taking heat for committing journalism. Maybe, New Hampshire and our socially liberal Governor Sununu specifically could take a few moments to think about undoing those limitations.

The Granite State uses the law to prevent speech (in this case, therapy or consultation) that could be beneficial to people in need.

Most of the people who feel confused about their sexuality will benefit from an open discussion that gets to the root of the concern. A genuine attempt to find out who they are and why they feel the way they do. That’s not possible here, and that needs to change.
