Stopped Clock Charles Barkley on Race Relations and Political Power (and it’s brilliant!)

Charles Barkley knows basketball and he gets paid a lot to talk about it. I know little to nothing about Basketball beyond my good fortune at having been able to watch the Larry-Bird Celtics dominate the game. So, I don’t talk basketball I stick to politics. Barkley doesn’t always stick to his sport and the outcome is a jump ball.

You can’t be sure what you’ll get.

But like any stopped clock eventually, it’s right, at least for a minute. Barkley got the opportunity to be right on a very large stage. CBS Sports coverage of the Final Four. An opportunity to say something profound, and he did.

“I think most white people and black people are great people. I really believe that in my heart. But I think my system is set up, where our politicians, whether they are Republican or Democrat…are designed to make us not like each other…so they can keep their grasp of money and power.” …
