Whoever is Running the Biden Administration (WRBA) instructed Joe to cancel the national emergency at the border. This had three immediate effects. First, it stopped the siphoning of money from unrelated and unused Department of Defense accounts for border security. Second, it created a national emergency at the border.

Third, it halted construction on 300 miles of barrier already paid for and under contract using money allocated by Congress. The first was a legitimate exercise of executive authority, the second was caused by the first, and the third is (at least technically) illegal.
Absent a formal revocation request by WRBA, the DHS, CBP, and the paid contractors have to finish what they were paid to do.
According to the Washington Examiner, there has been no formal revocation request made by WRBA, and another 300 miles of the border wall was contracted before WRBA canceled the emergency.
As I understand it, they will get paid for the work whether they do it or not. The emergency has nothing to do with the contracts or the obligation of WRBA to execute those contracts in full.
The ongoing legal challenges to that effect may explain why “Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told department employees he may restart border wall construction to plug what he called “gaps” in the current barrier.”
In a conversation with ICE employees last week, Mr. Mayorkas was asked about his plans for the wall, and he said that while Mr. Biden has canceled the border emergency and halted Pentagon money flowing to the wall, “that leaves room to make decisions” on finishing some “gaps in the wall.”
Or, he might mean gaps in Executive authority to end construction and any legal defense to justify it.
Congress can and could change its mind. They have the votes but do they have the will?
For four years, Dems have been grousing about humanitarian this or that while pointing their boney chardonnay and latte-stained fingers at Trump and Republicans. But Trump inherited a humanitarian crisis and used his emergency powers to end it. The Wall and increased patrols cut back illegal crossings to historic lows.
WRBA has encouraged the human tragedy currently playing out. Redirecting resources to address it allows human traffickers, cartels, and violent gangs like MS-13 to waltz into the country uncontested.
Obama’s Illegal Executive Order opening the border lead directly to the opioid crisis that continues to plague us. We can only imagine the mess this disaster portends on top of other side effects. WRBA is dumping border-crosses on cities, towns, and states across America. That influx brings with it infectious diseases (including covid for the Karens) and burdens local budgets and resources after a year of suppressing revenues with political force.
It all looks bad, and it’s getting harder to hide it, but we knew this before November 2020.
Democrats destroy everything they touch, so any hint at honoring the contracts and adding those miles or filling in gaps may happen eventually, but it won’t end the mess we have on our hands today.
What the Obamasaurs would call a man-caused disaster.
