Biden wants to kill 80% of America’s energy. What the hell is he thinking? Maybe it is time for that radical cranialrectalectomy. Are Americans willing to pay $4 or $5 a gallon to fill up the tank with Saudi oil or Russian gas? Are you willing to pay our enemies double for what we can produce for ourselves?
Biden energy policy dream or nightmare?
President Biden’s approach to energy is problematic. His goals are: To kill fossil fuels and stop the building of pipelines. He is entering international treaties outlawing fossil fuel use. His policy is to end drilling on federal lands and to strangle the oil and gas industries with regulatory assault.
Those things will drive energy cost through the roof. Then he wants to throw billions and perhaps trillions of tax dollars at wind and solar farms. He does not even understand why these technologies either will or will not work. Do you?
So, how much of our energy needs today are met with fossil fuels? The U.S. Energy Information Administration publishes a chart. It shows the latest official data on U.S. energy production sources. About 80% of all our energy comes from oil, gas and coal.
What happens if the power doesn’t flow through the grid? Will you miss your laptop, hairdryer, Netflix show, computer games and iPhones? They are gone when we run out of power. That may happen one of these days in the not too distant future. Californians are familiar with blackouts. When the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing.
Reality sets in… hopefully before major damage is done
That might be an issue… if avoiding disruptions in power availability has value. How many hours a day are you planning to be without power? Less than 5% comes from wind and solar. Biden expects you to believe the capacity to generate green energy is going to be 16 times greater in about 5 years.
Let’s assume Biden is able to quadruple American production of green energy. We will be meeting about 25% of our power needs. Where will we get the other 75% of our electric power and transportation fuels? Remember, battery-operated cars need electric power to recharge their batteries. So 18 hours a day you may be without electricity. The other 6 you better plan wisely for what you need to get done .
If we produce less oil and gas domestically, two bad things will happen. Gas prices are going to rise probably to European levels $8/gallon. Prices have already started to rise at the pump to more than $2.50 a gallon in many markets. We will make up for the lost domestic energy production by importing more energy from Saudi Arabia, Russia and OPEC nations. Which of those countries are our enemies?
Biden energy policy is braindead… hopefully it doesn’t kill our economy
Trump was right when he said America has the toughest environmental standards in the world. This means shifting energy production out of America only increases greenhouse gases. Just chew on the commonsense of that for a little bit. It may be a bitter pill… but follow the science. Please prove me wrong.
The dream is that over the next several decades, wind and solar power will become inexpensive to produce. The hope is they will produce enough electricity to meet most of our energy needs. But why are we going to starve ourselves of energy in the meantime? It is a Wimpy plan. We are paying today for a promise of electricity decades in the future without existing technology to do the job.
Are Americans willing to pay $4, $5, $6, $7, $8 a gallon or more for a fill up with Saudi, Iranian or Russian gas? So explain it to me. Why isn’t it smarter, safer and, yes, more virtuous to get the energy we need from America and Canada than from countries that hate us?
