I just watched the fascinating documentary Out of Shadows, and learned for the first time that Disney owns both ABC and Fox. I was surprised, and dismayed… and confused.
If you look at the movies that Disney produces for children, there’s a strong theme that runs through many of them. Most of the ones I’m familiar with, anyway. And that theme is: Be yourself, and do what you believe is right, no matter what the people around you are saying or doing.
Which is a great message, right?
So we have, on the one hand, a media behemoth whose mission seems to be to use the mainstream news to get everyone on board with a collectivist agenda; and on the other hand, we have the same media behemoth using its massive market share in children’s entertainment to teach children to be strong, independent individuals.
Is this a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing? Or is it part of some kind of sophisticated, coordinated strategy? If it’s the latter, I’d love to know what that strategy is.
