Not that it matters but it seems that all political factions are warming up to Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the US Supreme Court:
Now, this will have NO impact on the actual process – the Constitution says that the President SHALL nominate and that the Senate SHALL offer advice and consent to that nomination. In this case where the Republicans in the Senate have already signified they have the votes to approve of the nomination, this will be a done deal. Still, it’s interesting to see in a short couple of weeks how the approval rate has moved up.
The only question will be how are the Democrats on the US Senate Judiciary going to behave themselves? Will we see a repeat of Biden’s handling of the Bork nomination and Trump’s previous nomination of Kavanaugh? Or will only a token “prevent” effort be put up?
But the above shows, in a small example, why the Founders showed that a Constitution Republic in which representatives make decisions is superior to a pure Democracy (aka mob rule).
But why DO Democrats keep yammering about “our Democracy” even as we only use democratic procedures in supporting / electing our Constitutional Republic form of government?
Or do they really want mob rule?
Certainly, they treat SCOTUS as a super-legislature, why else are they talking about the Judges deciding issues instead of ruling on how an event is judged by the Law?
