It’s campaign time for Jeanne Shaheen, our US Federal Government Ambassador to New Hampshire. And she’s trying to keep her butt in that US Senate seat. She does have a massive war chest to spend so of course, right to the airwaves.

One of her first ads is this one and just like the Stop Republican group, right off the bat, Jeanne Shaheen lies outright about what Republicans are trying to do.
It’s incredible that even in the middle of this pandemic, Republicans in Washington are trying to gut healthcare for people with preexisting conditions. In NH, that over half million people. We are going to fight them every step of the way.
She thinks we be morons.
Either that, she thinks her voters are the morons willing to suck down whatever pablum she gives them. This is just the Georgie Stephanopolus’s “contraceptive” question of the last Presidential campaign (below). This is an issue that is a non-issue, but she wants to make one of it. Even Trump has said that preexisting conditions should be covered.
So where does this come from?
She’s still defending her HB711 SB711 [Thanks Greg for catching the mistake!] bill, as an NH State Senator, that did more harm to the NH Healthcare insurance marketplace than anything else before it (and until she helped to institute Obamacare). The number of choices (remember, “Who Chooses?”) went from over a couple of dozen companies to about two and a have because of community ratings and guaranteed acceptance (i.e., preexisting conditions). She got that into Obamacare. What happened? Narrow networks of providers, higher premiums.
And now she’s trying the same old lame blame game on Corky Messner. If his campaign was smart (hint, hint), they be going to the Wayback Machine (the site, not the mythical cartoon tool of Sherman and Peabody (re: the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show) and yank out some of her claims. Or do your research here on GraniteGrok.
It’s a false assertion made to put Republicans, in this case, Corky, back on his heels. Nail her for it. It’s just as stupid as her ‘Clean Election’ gambit. Ignore them.

Nobody understood the WHY of the question at that time. Well, it was a set up. Legal Insurrection reminds us what happened next:
Everyone, at least on our side of the aisle, shook their heads in disbelief as to why Stephanopoulos was bringing up the issue. There was no active controversy over contraception, it wasn’t in the news, and there were far more pressing political issues, yet what seemed like an eternity of debate time was devoted to the subject at the insistence of Stephanopoulos.
It was, shall we say, something out of left field.
When Romney said, it’s working just fine, leave it alone, everyone laughed.
…Well what do you know, about a month later the Obama administration proposes administrative rules under Obamacare which would require free contraception be provided even by religious institutions which oppose contraception on religious grounds.
It’s almost as if Stephanopoulos got the memo first. Unless, of course, you believe in coincidences.
