“I am nominating Ted Cruz as my newest US Supreme Court Justice.”  Sen. Cruz is actually is on President Trump’s next list for replacement Justices. Wouldn’t that be a kicker!

There is no doubt that he’s a conservative. We here at GraniteGrok interviewed him a few times – he IS as smart as he is said to be. And unlike a lot of politicians that we’ve interviewed, he knows his Constitution cold; we spent 45 minutes talking about current events from the lens of an originalist reading of the US Constitution. It would be both rather fun and interesting to listen in on the questions he’d be asking of both side of an issue.

The most fun, however, would be him not taking any crap that would be thrown at him during any hearings. I’d pay to watch those because has a good sense of repartee and comedic sense – and many of those on the Left really are dolts. And the US has seen this before with Kavanaugh and Gorsuch so in trying to replay the same game plan would be rather lame (they’ve already shot their wad during his latest re-election campaign as well as in his run for President back in 2016.

One thing is sure – he would NOT allow himself be drawn into the Left’s view of SCOTUS as an overriding Super-Legislature if approved. And make no mistake, it MIGHT be an IF because he is not all that beloved by the Establishment Republican Senators.

I, however, would love to see him on the bench.

Given the ages of the current Justices:

  • Ruth Bader Ginsburg – 87
  • Stephen Breyer – 82
  • Clarence Thomas – 72
  • Samuel Alito – 70
  • Sonia Sotomayer – 66
  • John Roberts – 65
  • Elena Kagan – 60
  • Brett Kavanaugh – 55
  • Neil Gorsuch – 53

There is a possibility he might have another chance between now and January 20, 2021. If he wins re-election, he could have three:

  • Ginsberg has been suffering a number of bouts of cancers the past few years.
  • Roberts had a seizure in 2007
  • Sotomayor has had several issues in the recent past (she suffers from diabetes).

Additional names on the list:

  • Gregory Katsas, Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit
  • Barbara Lagoa, Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit
  • Christopher Landau, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the United Mexican States
  • Carlos Muñiz, Justice on the Supreme Court of Florida
  • Martha Pacold, Judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
  • Peter Phipps, Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
  • Sarah Pitlyk, Judge on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri
  • Allison Jones Rushing, Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
  • Kate Todd, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Counsel to the President
  • Lawrence VanDyke, Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
