Facebook Deploying New Tools to Prevent Left-Wing Narratives From Serious Challenge

I didn’t say it, but it has been said. When you get something for free, you are the product. In the case of Facebook, this is as true as any other. They are selling you to advertisers. Advertisers are not just people paying to push but everyone and everything. And they intend to limit any message with which they disagree.

Two “tools” have come to light as the platform struggles to confine ideas to the Left’s preferred ruling class message. One is called a Virality Circuit breaker, attributed to the very far left Center for American Progress.

 

Platforms should detect, label, suspend algorithmic amplification, and prioritize rapid review and fact-checking of trending coronavirus content that displays reliable misinformation markers, which can be drawn from the existing body of coronavirus mis/disinformation.

 

The immediate application here would be to suppress any new report or existing content that promotes ideas counter the COVID19, mask-mandate, lockdown mentality of the Left before millions of people can see it. And that has had its own problems from go. But the real purpose is as gatekeepers of all truth and expression. A way to maintain an extensive list of triggers all of them favoring lies from the left while suppressing or canceling content that challenges those lies.

Next,In a recent article by the New York Times, it was reported that Facebook is also working on ap political advertising “kill switch” to be activated if President Trump questions the legitimacy of presidential election results in November.”

 

In a staff meeting later that week, Mr. Zuckerberg told employees that if political figures or commentators tried declaring victory in an election early, Facebook would consider adding a label to their posts explaining that the results were not final. Of Mr. Trump, Mr. Zuckerberg said the company was “in unprecedented territory with the president saying some of the things that he’s saying that I find quite troubling.”

 

There is nothing unprecedented about any of this. Nearly every analysis of traditional corporate media reporting of election results, going back decades, demonstrates the media’s partisan approach to reporting “results.” Democrat won states in Presidential elections get quickly promoted (and their deep meaning discusses) while announcements about Republican state wins are delayed sometimes 10-20 minutes.

The entire 2000 hanging chad mess came about because the media pulled the trigger on Florida for Gore long before it was, to borrow a term, “settled political science.”

Ann Coulter, among others, has well-documented proof of the years-long compulsion. So, Zuckerberg is just another liberal doing essentially the same thing. Control the message to favor the Left’s preferred outcome. And since it is his platform, he can and will do it.

Like everything else in this world, it helps to know the home field rules if you still want to play. And if you don’t like them that you have to play somewhere else. We play elsewhere and encourage others to join us, but many of you are still on Facebook, and we don’t feel right abandoning you to the land of Zuckerberg. The guy who says he supports free speech but like any good liberal only means speech with which he agrees.

Everything else is labeled as false, fake, hate, disinformation, or racist. We’ve even seen the ‘independent fact-checkers’ create straw men to get content flagged or yanked. And that’s not ending until the ‘Zuck” can no longer sustain his business model or lifestyle because there are not enough eyeballs on his platform to whom ‘advertisers’ can sell.
